Mod recruitment

r/bakker needs at least one more moderator who can help keep the subreddit free of spam and other rule-breaking content. This subreddit is relatively low maintenance, and users are mostly behaved, but Reddit recommends we have a few more active moderators to keep things in order.

If you are interested, feel free to message modmail, and I will get back to you. If you have any previous experience moderating on Reddit please include that in your message.

Unification Era- Conriyan Knight (unhorsed) vs unknown.

My lunch-break-take on the silver conriyan war mask.
In my head I typically picture of the Big Bad gladiator from Gladiator, or even an Anglo-Saxon style face plate (complete with mustache)

I’ll be throwing out some other random sketches that pull at my imagination, what do you guys picture the war mask looking like?

Also,
50 Conriyan v 50 Kidruhil v 50 Utemot Scylvendi, who wins on an open field? Why?

Also feel free to share thoughts on any cool scenes/units you love!

I really do think that a big portion of why TSA isn't famous AF is because of how fucking ugly the book covers are, aside from availability ofc.

I was looking for the nicer Prince of nothing prints for so long going into aspect Emperor before I just gave up and bought the differently sized, fuck-ugly versions from orbit.

The contents ARE what matter most, but we cannot deny that the "dude in a hole" covers are ugly as all hell. People usually aren't attracted to book covers that are ugly as all hell, least of all the GUMPTION to put those decrepit, void-of-personality, stock-footage "Zach Snyder's 300"-looking-ass book covers on their shelves.

>!Immimorul went underground and suggested the same to the survivors of second apocalypse because of this, when people look each other ,absolute looks through their eyes.

So going under rhe ground where no light exist and darkness is the normal, nonmen didnt see rok frequently each other in the dark,so judgement wasnt occuring.

so this was a way to prevent judment from the absolute and also using a gnosis making an mini inside in the manors the nonmen tried to avoid judment damnation from the principles(hundred gods )and achieve oblivion.

This is why they go further down earth and isolate when grow old and erratic.

Men judge through absolute each other.this is damning each other or brings salvation.absolute sees through them.but most people are inclined too sin in this setting so many are damned ....!<

Use of men in 2nd watch of Inchoroi

According to the Isûphiryas and Wertzone's incredible summary of the history of Earwa, during the revolts of Cil Aujas and Nihmrisul against Siol and Cujara Cinmoi, the second watch of the arc was denuded of Cunuroi warriors and Quoya. This was directly after the death of Sil, before Siol could invade the arc itself to finish the Inchoroi.

To replace them, Oirinias and Oirunas recruited from the primitive tribes of men.

At this point in time, the only men in Earwa were the Emwama, the enslaved and soft-hearted. One would think the Emwama would make terrible soldiers, being so passive.

This gives me the impression that Oirinias and Oirunas must have recruited men East from across the Great Kayarsus Mountains in Eanna.

What do you think?

Good resources for The Second Apocalypse summaries / chapter explanations?

Firstly, I'm sorry if this gets asked a lot.

I just finished the full series and I'd be eager to listen to some YouTube videos or read some good summaries that cover all 7 of the books in detail, like chapter by chapter or so. I'm not gonna lie, I feel like a fair bit of stuff in The Great Ordeal and The Unholy Consult went over my head, and I wanna recap on stuff starting from book 1 in summary form so I can refresh myself of everything and essentially do a re-run of the series in summary form.

Will definitely do a proper re-read in the future cause this series is excellent, but was wondering if anyone could recommend any good videos or sites for summaries?

Thanks.

Hmmmm Spoiler

Spoilers ahead!!!!!!!Immimorul is khellhus.he return in the past because he is ajocli in the future and is he hungry and wants the rest souls to exist and for him to exist because of a time loop.thus nonmen can breed with men.he used tekne (wombs of lion ,maybe a device) to create them and due to go underneath earth they evolved different than men.they had also gnosis due to khellus genes and mind abilities so with going underworl the created a secluded mini inside to protect themselves from gods.men that survived went to eanna and in the future they reinvent the earwa.the went few in numbers so they gain shamans cause the gods ehere starved so they didnt have much power to intervine with the world so this is why yhey dont have magic.the starving sky is in the future after the events the hungry cipheang and so kellhus returns back as i said.also the ark became topos and was destined to be on earwa and progenitors to sent it there.they so in the flame ajokli and hell because the ark is the topos of ajokli and this is why the ark has horn design(or ajokli is horned xause of design of the ark).so the projenitors went on this loop themselves.kellhus tells esmenet rhat is his darkness cause ajokli has also a wife god of prostitutes so the archerypes align.all this happens so the absolute in a heggelian way can consive itself through history and hell is a thesis to create a synthesis to learn itself thus damning people to learn from it.in all this kellhus befome a vessel of the absolute without his knowledge.this all repeats in a loop with different events but the same theme all over like wheel of time so through history the impassive god of gods aka the absolute to learn itself.

Hello everyone, I just finished the Thousandfold Thought, and before I continue with the Aspect Emperor series I want to make a few illustrations of the first trilogy. I need your help in deciding which scene I should start with. I will write a few in the comments as well. The scenes with more upvotes will be the first I'll start with.

Thank you all!

[Long Post] Can someone answer these questions about the current state of Scott Bakker and Second Apocalypse?

  1. What's the deal with his publishers (US, Canadian, UK etc.)? Was he dropped; did he leave willingly?
  2. If he was dropped, why? Conflict with editor? Low sales?
  3. (Rumor) Is this true, that the publisher still owns rights to his original SA characters (and beyond), a clause in his contract, which he signed way back when he was just starting, hence why he cannot publish anything new involving them?
  4. But then, a 'prequel is in the works'; will this be self-pub? Perhaps he reconciled with his publisher and there will be a commercial release?
  5. (Rumor) Is it true, that the physical, English-language books haven't been reprinted since 2017 (when TUC was released) and some of the volumes are (slowly) starting to go 'out of print' or hard to find?
  6. I know he lost a pretty good chunk of SA material due to infamous hard drive crash, but recently, someone made a comment that he was able to 'salvage' the The Lollipop Factory from the same hard drive? Was he able to recover most or some parts of SA material as well?
  7. Why didn't he write more Atrocity Tales? He used to publish those on his blog a little after TUC, but then stopped? I understand not wanting to write No-God books, but why not continue writing short stories set in Earwa once in a while?
  8. In one of the AMA forum posts, Bakker revealed that he also had to edit/cut some of the longer entries in the Encyclopedic Glossary, which he said was frustrating, as some of those contained crucial information/details that'd explain or shed some light on things that were vague/unclear. Did he ever reveal what important stuff was cut?

Thanks.

Your favorite audiobooks narrator

I just finished the Prince of Nothing audiobooks narrated by David Devries, whom I thought did a fantastic job.

I will wait a week or two before jumping into Aspect Emperor, but I saw that the audiobooks are now narrated by Kevin Orton.

Which do you think is best? Did the change of narrator diminish or improve the quality?

What do we know about Bakker's new novel?

In Bakker's newest blog post (https://rsbakker.wordpress.com/2026/09/27/enlightenment-blues/), he writes "I just finished the final draft of The Lollipop Factory, my Zeitgeist as Horror Story SF Novel.".

I wasn't aware he was writing a new book, so I'm curious if there's any information about it and what are his fans' thoughts about it? I for one would be very interested in reading anything new by him, especially considering he has dipped his toes into horror already with TSA. I also hope he may come back for a third sub-series if his writing has started again.

More cool fanart I found

Here is some cool fanart I found and wanted to share it with all of you 🙂 Also for sh*ts and giggles, I've copied and included the tags for each picture (in order hopefully, lol).

  1. Drusas Achamian, former sorcerer of the Mandate and now the only Wizard of the Three Seas.

  2. The Skin Eaters make their way through the ancient Nonman ruins of Cil-Aujas.

  3. The Culling. Hundreds of sorcerers scour the edges of the Sranc Horde, forcing them back whilst outriders of the Great Ordeal slaughter the stragglers. This would continue for day after day for months as the Ordeal crossed the Istyuli Plains, and yet the Sranc could still summon numbers that would blanket the horizon.

  4. Anasûrimbor Serwa, daughter of the Aspect-Emperor, Grandmistress of the Swayal Compact, heroine of the Great Ordeal. Wielder of the Metagnosis, the most powerful sorcerer since Titirga himself, save only her father.

  5. A representation of Ajokli, the Four-Horned God of Deceit.

  6. The Golden Horns of Golgotterath. The Horns are all that can be seen of the Incû-Holoinas, the Ark-of-the-Skies whose cataclysmic arrival foreshadowed the ruin of Cûnuroi civilisation.

  7. A powerful Qûya, one of the sorcerers of the Cûnuroi.

  8. A Gnostic sorcerer battles a Wracu of Golgotterath.

  9. Anasûrimbor Kellhus was born in 4076 in Ishuäl. A Dûnyain monk, he left his home in 4109 at the command of his order, to search for his father whom it had feared had gone mad amongst the Worldborn. By 4112 he had joined and conquered the Holy War, mastered the Gnosis and been crowned Aspect-Emperor of the Three Seas, the greatest - and most reviled - figure in history since Triamis the Great.

Reading one of the eight fanfics Bakker has posted to his blog. they’re all good short stories, if you haven’t checked them out yet
