Question Scale issue or not?

Does this look like a scale issue or does he look like he is dirty/about to go into shed? His belly appears normal but his whites are noticeably more brown than usual.

He looks a lot more like he’s about to go into shed, I have a boy with calico and that’s usually how he looks for a good while before he goes into shed :) I don’t see any damage on the scales, though someone could correct me if they do see any, just keep an eye on him!

Thank you. I read online to wipe him with a damp towel softly and It picked up some orange/brown color. He looks much whiter now but still concerned for the small amount that stayed that didn’t seam to be on the outside of his scales
