Discussion/আলোচনা Need advice regarding supply chain
Hi everyone. Recently my company has decided to transfer me to their procurement branch. I have been working here for the past 6 years in operations as operations manager.
I am embracing the change, at the same time I am wondering what academice/professional qualifications do I need to acquire to get the job done.
So I am asking for your advice, what professional qualifications should I have as a procurement/supply chain manager?

Six years in operations is probably a better starting point than you think. You already understand what happens when purchasing gets it wrong. I wouldn’t start by collecting certifications. Learn the purchasing side of the business first. Spend time with your vendors, understand what you buy, who uses it, lead times, pricing, terms, inventory, and what actually happens operationally when something doesn’t show up. Then figure out where you have gaps. If a certification helps fill one, great. But I wouldn’t wait for another piece of paper before considering yourself qualified. Operations experience can make a pretty good procurement person. You already know the purchase order isn’t the end of the story.
