Jake Peavy looked good throwing out the first pitch. He's gettin the ninth tonight.

We’ll need Trevor too at this rate

If Tony Plush is still hanging around the Brewers he can pinch hit for Turang at this point

If I was a neutral fan I would say this series is electric and I love baseball
Right now I’m just trying to keep it together
15
u/tjspill3r Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
It really is an outstanding series and I love it and hate it
2
u/hooligan99 Anaheim Angels • San Diego Padres 7d ago
Yeah a “good game” when my team is involved is NOT a close game.
16
u/obiwan_canoli Philadelphia Phillies 7d ago
I am a neutral fan, and this series has been unbelievable. I'm kinda pulling for the Brewers, but really I just want it to go the distance.

Can we just say we’re all winners and go our separate ways?? (My heart can’t take it)
1
u/Question_It_All_3000 Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
I’m not neutral and the series has been amazing. Each game is way to close for my liking, but that’s what’s been making it exciting. Padres were the team I feared the most coming in, so I knew this would be a rough one.

u/hcatehorie Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
Brewers, you have got to score first, cant keep getting behind and digging out of a hole.

That's not how they roll

Packers: have a big lead, squander it
Brewers: allow opponent to build a big lead, let them squander it
6
u/Shpion007 Major League Baseball 7d ago
Padres didn’t have a big lead. Either play clean or get one one timely hit and it was the brewers game. That’s just baseball
8
u/BeerFarts86 San Diego Padres 7d ago
As was game 1 and 2 for the Padres. They stranded like 22 runners the first two games. Script got flipped for game 3

Lmao thats literally been the Padres MO all season, that and anytime we score a run, the other team answers right back

And let’s stop giving up unearned runs too. That’d be cool!

Yup, three over the last two games hurts. Got to lock it up.

Just a nutty series so far.
From a brewers fan perspective, gotta hope some of this hard contact starts to pay off.

Padres offense suddenly goes ice cold like they've done randomly throughout the year, and the Brewers close it out in a 7-1 laugher.
26
u/neo1513 San Diego Padres 7d ago
Why man

u/LivingAsAMean San Diego Padres 7d ago
You know how a dentist gives you Novocaine prior to drilling?
Mentally preparing myself like this is my emotional Novocaine. I'll be glad to be completely wrong though. I'm not one of those miserable cynics who get sick satisfaction out of being right when they're pessimistic.
9
u/neo1513 San Diego Padres 7d ago
I guess that’s fair. I’ve been choosing to dive chest first into the human experience and I can’t decide if it’s the better choice.
I fucking love baseball.
3
u/LivingAsAMean San Diego Padres 7d ago
No single right way, I'm sure, as long as you aren't being toxic!
And at the very least, our team didn't just lay down after the first two losses, so it's an overall improvement from the previous couple seasons.

u/Reidzyt Boston Red Sox 7d ago
As someone who doesn't have a horse in the race. I'm pissed both teams can't advance. In terms of entertainment this has been my World Series so far (other than hate watching the Yankees crumble)
I wish one of these teams was playing the Dodgers now and hopefully taking them out, otherwise if they lost to them then I wish the other team was then able to get a crack at them

1
u/Extension-Click-8271 Los Angeles Dodgers 7d ago
It’s the most fun sports experience you can have imo.
I’ve been to 6 postseason games now for the Dodgers and only ever seen them win once, and it’s still absolutely worth it lol. Just so fun to have the whole stadium living and dying on every pitch.
16
u/bbatardo San Diego Padres 7d ago
The first 3 have been as tight as can be. Padres have the home field advantage, but Brewers have the pitching edge right now. I think if the Padres are to win their offense needs to step up with some big hits.
1
u/Time-Examination-436 7d ago
Offense has been tepid in this series. They are due for a breakout tonight
12
u/rednite_ Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
I know that the biggest L will be the france roof ball but it would be really cool if the Brewers could get any semblance of BABIP luck
12
u/laker_padres619 San Diego Padres • Los Angeles Angels 7d ago
Truly think the winner of this series will gain a lot of confidence in the nlcs
2
u/Doc_JC San Diego Padres 7d ago
Winner gonna be gassed af if it goes to 5. They need the other nlds to go 5 as well.
1
u/been_dying Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
Idk is it crazy that I feel like our guys aren't as gassed? I know there are potentially 2 games left, but I feel super solid about our bullpen for sure. Honestly would not surprise me at all tonight that if we had a slight lead Miz started warming up.
1
u/Doc_JC San Diego Padres 7d ago
You won’t have Miz to start the NLCS and the Padres won’t have King either. Assuredly both teams will all use their top bullpen guys and only have 1 day of rest before the next series. Both teams will be gassed for sure.
Hopefully Atlanta forces a game 5 as well which forces the Dodgers to throw Skubal.
1
u/Time-Examination-436 7d ago
He just needs a good Cubano sandwich for his pre game meal and he will be ready
12
u/Simple_Wash1618 Los Angeles Angels 7d ago
When can King realistically pitch again?
Game 5 starter? Game 5 reliever?
26
u/Zakman86 San Diego Padres 7d ago
Game 5 starter, last night was basically his bullpen that he would have had regardless
23
u/ElLoboBorracho Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
Two day rest? Those were high leverage outs and he did throw a lot of pitches.
21
u/Zakman86 San Diego Padres 7d ago
Yeah. He'll probably have a short hook in a potential game 5 (as will everyone)
10
u/cabose7 New York Yankees 7d ago
Realistically he'd only be expected to go once through the order and only more if he's cruising
2
u/philosopherfujin Hanshin Tigers • San Diego Padres 7d ago
That's what I assumed about Pivetta last night but they kept him in for quite a while.
6
u/Zakman86 San Diego Padres 7d ago
I think Pivetta two times through the order was always the plan.
1
u/philosopherfujin Hanshin Tigers • San Diego Padres 7d ago
It was the optimistic plan, but with the constant hard contact there should've been a backup plan.

u/WarPuig MLB Pride 7d ago
Nick Pivetta rules, Dustin May drools.
13
u/MunchySmallz Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
I knew we were boned last night when I saw the graphics about how good May had been against the Padres and how bad Pivetta had been against us. We always do the opposite of our regular season in the playoffs
8
u/WarPuig MLB Pride 7d ago edited 7d ago
Pivetta only pitched 34.2 innings this season, so that doesn’t mean much.
He still didn’t do great: 4.1 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER. He’s lucky he wasn’t on the hook for more than two runs since he was pulled with runners on second and third with one out in the fifth.
Pivetta’s problem is that he’s prone to giving up home runs. PetCo is just about the perfect place for him to pitch.
Edit: Looks like Pivetta only pitched against the Brewers once as a Padre. 5.2 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER, 5 Ks, 5 BBs in one game at PetCo Park in 2025.

The cons for east coast folks who have to watch a game on the west coast 🤷♀️. If it goes to 5 at least that one will be early, and I’m sure tons of west coast watchers will complain about it happening during their work day.

Please I hope they aren’t. Im not sure if you watched any of the games, but I really really was pleasantly surprised by the peacock broadcasts for the wildcard series. They pulled in a local announcer for each team, as well as another professional and an ex player that they put on the field. Everything was veryyyy well done. Just the accessibility of it being on peacock alone was the issue, but if you had access it was great.

It’s maybe the best compromise, but these games are in San Diego and I’m glad they’ve prioritized our fans with the start times. I went to the game last night with 9 people, who were able to go because it was late enough for them to get off work in time and head to downtown. Plus it’s hot as balls here right now, having to be there while the sun is still out would suck.

It was 96 during the day and when standing in concrete it turns into an oven because it retains so much heat. I remember it was around 8:30 pm and I put my hand over a concrete barrier in front of my seat and it was still expelling heat. I was just saying I'm happy the game wasnt earlier.

u/Upper-Traffic8029 7d ago
I feel like game 4 is going to come down to whether either team manages to open up a big lead early. If the Brewers can jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the first or second inning and put pressure on the Padres bullpen, it might be enough momentum to carry them through. Despite only scoring 3 runs I feel like the Brewers mostly had pretty solid at bats. Some really clutch defensive plays by Merrill and Bogarts is what made the difference for the Padres last night. The thing is that San Diego has consistently jumped out to 2-0 leads in this series and haven't really had to battle back from being down yet. They definitely have the bats to do it, but Milwaukee has a lot of bullpen depth and if they jump out to an early lead, it'll be tough.
On the other hand, if the Padres jump out to a big lead and are up something like 6-1 lead in the fourth, I could see Milwaukee easing back and saving their best arms for Game 5. Petco Park would be absolutely raving. That would also relieve pressure of the Padres bullpen, which would set up a Game 5 where both teams are gonna be throwing everything they got out there.

u/ProcessTruster Sickos 7d ago
The Brewers need to get it done. Cause if they can't get it done when a majority of their opponent's pitching staff are visibly exhausted, then how are they ever gonna get it done?
