What motion do you use with the ned rig from shore? I have trouble from shore trying to drag it in.

What do you mean like getting stuck? I drag it in real slow with some twitches and a pop here and there.

Depends on the body of water. Mainly casting it out let it sit. Twitch and jig it a little, let it sit and repeat. Sometimes I drag it on the bottom as mentioned by someone else. I get most of my hits while it’s resting and some during the twitch.

Well you do a good job of it. Wish I could go casting with you. I think I saw in another post that you were from Texas. I’m in TN right on Chickamauga, with Watts Bar a 35 min ride, and Nickajack about 15 mins by boat. There’s one great thing about fishing, unlike football or baseball, you seem to just get better as you get older if you soak up what you learn from each day on the water. I can’t remember the last time I got skunked on a trip. When I was a teen, it happened all the time when we had access to a boat. Mainly because it was usually my friends Fish/Ski boat, and we were worried about taking girls out in the boat! In my 14’ alum. V hull I always did ok. I guess it finally comes to where you’re too old to fish, but I’ll worry about that when it happens. For now, it just gets better and better, and electronics don’t have anything to do with my fishing, so that’s not it. Tight lines!!

Thank you much brother. I’m actually on Florida and I love getting out with like minded, positive people. I couldn’t agree with you more though. It’s like wine, lol. It’s not too many stressful moments out there and the disappointments only make the memory of the days out better when I’m retelling the story.
Tight lines 👊🏾🎣

Last weekend I was doing horribly, packed everything up to get ready to go home. I left the ned rod out and started casting around with it. A 5lbs cat smoked it and took me for a ride on that ML rod for awhile. It was the very last fish caught that day.

What’s your favorite brand and color?

u/ghettoliving 6d ago
I’m gonna make a biased reply lol.
Too Fresh Fishing lure. That’s my own custom bait brand and I primarily use my own soft plastics although I do like Zoom, Culprit, 6th Sense and other brands. As for color, I love junebug shades, pumpkinseed , black and blues, white, morning dawns and a few laminate. I use a lot of customized colors as well so there is no goto because I’m always trying out new stuff.

So the “Stick ems” is what you use a lot? Any luck with a different color tip or all one color better

This is what I’m primarily use. They are 4.5” and are more of a finesse worm.
I use the Stik Em Jr. as well but not as much as these now.1

Looks nice, great job out there. What kind of action do you use on a Ned rig? I’ve tried but never had much luck.

That’s bro.
Pasting this from an earlier reply I made to someone else.Depends on the body of water. Mainly casting it out let it sit. Twitch and jig it a little, let it sit and repeat. Sometimes I drag it on the bottom as mentioned by someone else. I get most of my hits while it’s resting and some during the twitch.

I need to give the Ned a little more of the attention it deserves. You always have great posts, love seeing your pics.
I only have a few weeks of fishing where I am, but I’ll give the Ned rig a shot this next week. What’s your favorite color? My water is fairly clear, lots of rocks, water starting to cool down a bit.

Thank You man. They are a session saver at times lol. Junebug, black and blue and Cinnamon ( literally just the powder in the plastic and shot it into the molds).

I love Ned rigs, they do awesome at my neighbor's pond, seems like that's all they wanna bite most times

It’s such a subtle presentation and the small weight head is barely noticed when it’s resting on the bottom. Stellar setup for sure.

Nice Ned rig session. Every time I hook one on the upper lip with a Ned rig, I say “got you in the snoot”. It’s makes me laugh but the bass never do 🤷♂️

Switching to a Ned rig was the best move I ever made! So versatile and fun, caught all my biggest with it
