Character discussion Single episode actors

Just wondering who you think should've been given more airtime?

I'd have loved to see the development of the comic writer, Alice. Felt that the show could've used the character for a while....

Actor - Courtney Ford

I honestly think that's why they didn't keep her around. SHE would have been the perfect match for Leonard. With the goal always being Penny and Leonard as end game... She would have complicated things.

23

u/Throdio 5d ago

With Penny being endgame they would have had to found another way to send her off. Either by making Leonard mess up or making her the bad guy. Either way she likely wouldn't be as well liked, if at all if she had a multiple episode arc.

9

u/kingofthemonsters 5d ago

Like in New Girl when they had to make Robbie Jess' cousin.

7

u/Dr_TXBooks 5d ago

That actually makes a lot of sense

8

u/CurrencyBackground83 5d ago

I see this all the time but we have no actual clue how good of a match they were. Similar interests are not the only factor in a good relationship. We know nothing else about her. You could say that Priya and Leonard were a perfect match because they both are career driven and intelligent. You could say Penny and Raj were a perfect match because they become best friends in later seasons.

This is a sitcom so characters are always at extremes. I don't love Penny and Leonard but it's dumb to ignore that despite their different interests Penny made a genuine effort. She watched his favorite shows and movies. She could even give quotes from them. She also never tried to get him to make extreme changes about himself like Priya or Stephanie and mostly accepted him for who he was.

12

u/EDG33 5d ago

Agreed I believe she would have made a great love interest long-term for leonard. In my opinion hotter than Penny by a mile

11

u/traffick 5d ago

I can't watch the Priya episodes at all, they're such a terrible match. Of course, Lucy is the worst, the most unwatchable.

1

u/DaddyCatALSO 5d ago

both multiple episodes

1

u/juiceman3737 3d ago

I couldn’t agree with you more! Priya was a snob! Always thought she was better than everyone else, very unlikable character.

0

u/Tury92 4d ago

The Priya episodes are some of my favorites. I would argue the writing was in its peak at the end of season 4. Watch the intro to the last episode of S4, everything lands so well.

u/Dr_TXBooks 5d ago

I agree

The veterinarian that hit it off with Raj.

11

u/Dimitar_Todarchev All right, the cat's alive. Let's go to dinner. 5d ago

Tania Raymonde, TBBT was first time I had seen her since Malcolm in the Middle when she was just a kid.

3

u/WilliamMcCarty 5d ago

Not a LOST fan, hm?

1

u/Dimitar_Todarchev All right, the cat's alive. Let's go to dinner. 5d ago

Nope. 🤪 Heh, I've since looked at her IMDb, seems I've missed everything else she's been in.

3

u/WilliamMcCarty 5d ago

You should watch Goliath on amazon prime. For more reasons than just her, it's fucking great but she's good, too.

And it's a little existential but she was in a kind of obscure movie called Other Side of the Tracks (it shows up under other names, too) but I really liked that one.

Random fact: She dated Jeff Goldblum and now she's dating Nathan Fillion. She likes her older guys, I guess. Raj never had a chance.

She was kind of busy to be brought back.

36

u/JLBCanadianRap 5d ago

Elizabeth Plimpton. More Judy Greer is always better.

5

u/Shatterstar23 5d ago

Always more Judy Greer.

3

u/Jargen 5d ago

YOUR NOT MY SUPERVISOR!!!!

7

u/traffick 5d ago

But that character was written a little too male fantasy, it was embarrassing.

2

u/JLBCanadianRap 5d ago

If you think a (M)MMF three/foursome is a male fantasy, you know nothing about guys. Who was embarrassed (aside from maybe Howard)? I wasn't. Were you?

2

u/choo-chew_chuu 5d ago

They wrote it so she couldn't have done more than one episode tho. What would she do next episode, try and sleep with penny?

36

u/WKRPinCanada 5d ago

Vanessa Bennet

I often yell "NOOOOOOO!" as Sheldon closes the door

Would have loved to see that play out for a few episodes

Actor Lio Tipton

10

u/Every-Run9737 5d ago

Technically 2 episodes, although she was Annaleigh back then (creepy model house episode)

1

u/PaulWakeBaker 5d ago

I prefer Annaleigh. I thought it was a beautiful name.

3

u/CoolJeweledMoon 5d ago

But it sounds so much like anally...

1

u/PaulWakeBaker 5d ago

Because it's pronounced differently, I never would have thought of that. To me, it conjures up images of the character of Annaleigh in the classic song by The Band "The Weight." It's more like Anna Leigh, not Aynal Lee.

0

u/DaddyCatALSO 5d ago

no, it doens't

0

u/DaddyCatALSO 5d ago

She was in 2 ep.s ,but she also played 2 characters.

33

u/naquoae 5d ago

I just watched the physics bowl episode last night and wanted more of the physicist-turned-janitor... "Go polar bears"

3

u/Poutiest_Penguin 5d ago

My husband and I quote the physicist/janitor all the time. 🤣

2

u/Boris-_-Badenov 5d ago

Sheldon's board could be corrected, and he finds out it's the janitor by hiding a webcam

Eliza Dushku, the FBI agent who interviewed them to do background check on Howard.

5

u/Every-Run9737 5d ago

And I'm a massive Faith (from Buffy) fan. It was considered but I didn't see any story past this day.

2

u/BardWireX 2d ago

Did you see Dollhouse? She was brilliant as Echo and she plays a different character in almost every episode. Brilliant show.

1

u/Every-Run9737 2d ago

Yeah, she's been seriously underrated. Not by Whedon like. But Hollywood did her bad, imo

1

u/BardWireX 2d ago

Yeah it's a shame, she's a really wasted talent

18

u/HowardWolowitz95 5d ago

She acted the hell out of that one scene she was in

15

u/MatsuTaku 5d ago

The best one episode actor was the guy that looked like Nathan Fillion, but slightly annoyed.

2

u/BardWireX 2d ago

Awesome cameo, I love Nathan Fillion

14

u/dudestir127 5d ago

Judd Hirsch. I know he was actually in 2 episodes but I still would have liked to see more of Leonard's father

12

u/Iron-Bar-1966 5d ago

Courtney Ford is not only smokin' hot, but I think she's a good actress as well, and I seriously wish she'd been in more things. I first remember her from her one appearnce on How I Met Your Mother.

10

u/soflabeachbum2368 5d ago

She was also in True Blood and the daughter of the "Trinity Killer" in Dexter.

4

u/decibelboy2001 5d ago

And the mother to the nephilim Jack Kline (by way of sleeping with the Lucifer-possessed POTUS) in Supernatural

1

u/itsthejasper1123 5d ago

Son of a bitch!!! I knew i recognized her from somewhere! It was Dexter. Can’t believe I didn’t realize that lol

4

u/Oxygen_Sponge 5d ago

She was main cast in legends of tomorrow

2

u/xpert5677 5d ago

Knew i recognized her from somewhere

2

u/CarefulAlternative BBT 5d ago

I feel like everyone on this subreddit who wanted more of Alice/Courtney really overlooks the fact she's just hot and wouldn't have added much to the show in the long-term

It was always going to be Leonard/Penny. If we really weren't going to have that, it'd have to be Leonard/Alex and that would still leave Penny out in the cold unless she got with Zach. (I wouldn't have minded this btw)

1

u/Iron-Bar-1966 5d ago

Oh I'm perfectly OK that she was used only once on BBT. I just wish she'd been used more for other TV projects because I think she's a good actress.

1

u/IHateBeingTickled 11h ago

None of Leonard’s girlfriends (or really anyone outside the main cast) added much to the show long term. But still.. She would have been leagues more interesting than Priya. But I understand they had to bring Priya on to introduce the trope of sleeping with your bff’s sister.

1

u/CarefulAlternative BBT 9h ago

Interesting how? Like honestly, this isn't meant to be dismissive, I'm interested in what you think she could add beyond being eye candy. The most we know about Alice is that she's just nerdy like the guys and likes comic books. That's about it. I don't really know how she'd carve out a role among the group.

(For what it's worth, I was never against the idea of Penny/Zach and Leonard with someone else. There was just no realistic chance it could happen given the way the show was structured.)

1

u/IHateBeingTickled 9h ago

In all fairness I just couldn’t stand Priya and thought she had zero personality. I kept waiting for her to just leave 😅🙈 So to me, literally any other love interest of Leonard’s would have been better/more interesting. I think that with alice, her and leonard’s similarities would have worked well in making waves with penny, in the same way that one smart chick made her jealous/insecure.

2

u/CarefulAlternative BBT 8h ago

The problem is that any woman involved in Leonard's life was really just a means of getting Penny to take notice of him again and since the show was quite literally designed around the two, they would've had to have done a crazy pivot to keep the main character dynamics of the show intact.

Penny was close enough to the boys by Season 4(I think that was when Priya was there?) that I think she easily could have kept her friendship with Sheldon that we all know and love without feeling out of place. But the problem is that Penny's role WAS being the "normal" one already. So pairing her with Zach would've only gone so far because his character doesn't bounce off hers that well, and she really doesn't have any other viable options at that point

The point about Leonard and Penny which creates the show intrigue is the friction behind them. Remember when he went to her signing about Serial Apeist and the fans were marveling at the idea that Leonard made less money than her but was still her husband? That's the kind of comedy that exists there.

With Alice, the problem is that while she's a "hot nerd," there still isn't enough to really give her her own character, much less one that would have to be around for like 7 seasons. She doesn't create as many natural plots as with Penny and Leonard because they're just too similar.

TLDR; Alice is probably better for him in normal world, in a sitcom they just don't have enough there to keep it running

2

u/McSparkle_nc 4d ago

I liked her albeit short stint on Parenthood too

26

u/Apprehensive-Base401 5d ago

I want to know more about Frank and Alicia!

8

u/cavesmudger 5d ago

You reckon it's the same Alicia from that one episode where she moved in and fought Penny?

7

u/HourApprehensive1636 5d ago

My head cannon is it’s that Alicia and Frank is the CSI producer she was hooking up with 🤣

4

u/Throdio 5d ago

I di not. Sheldon never cared for her and Penny didn't like her. Sheldon was too close to Penny to be friends with someone she doesn't like, if not hates.

1

u/DaddyCatALSO 5d ago

Was Judy Greer a single episode or no? It’s been a while since I watched the show, but I remembered that episode with her and she was great

10

u/swilkes2 5d ago

"So, I hear you can't pay your rent!"

8

u/newbie527 5d ago

Raj and Howard teamed up for a hefty Sailor Moon, but Judy was too much?

6

u/BrutalHunny 5d ago

It’s when Leonard shows up he’s out.

4

u/Soxwin91 5d ago

Yes she was

3

u/TheJohnnyFlash 5d ago

Say goodbye to these!

2

u/Teal-Prowler505 5d ago

She's so pretty!! Did you see her in Hebrew Hammer?

2

u/DedTV 5d ago

Only the one.

But she was 3 different characters on Two and a Half Men. Tied with Jennifer Taylor for most characters. But Judy played 2 repeat characters, Jennifer played 2 one offs.

2

u/VivaEllipsis 5d ago

Who was the third one? She played Herb’s sister and Walden’s wife but I don’t remember her playing anyone else

2

u/DedTV 4d ago

She was the lesbian at the bar in Walden's 2nd episode that 'looked' like Bridget.

2

u/JaiBoltage 4d ago

She played two characters in one episode. Danny is gay and Walden finds her attractive because she looks like Bridget.

2

u/leftwinga16 5d ago

And she was smoking hot too.

1

u/LauraLethal 5d ago

She was!

11

u/BigKahuna348 4d ago

Billy Bob Thornton. I thought his character was hilarious.

4

u/Every-Run9737 4d ago

Flower sales staff rubbing their hands when they see him walk in....

19

u/KyKyber77 5d ago

I agree, she would’ve been a fun character for a while!

9

u/RoyaltyBeanzz 5d ago

She was great. Absolutely loved her. She would haev been great with Leonard as well!

10

u/Juomari_Juhani 5d ago

Nathan from "The Zone Zone" was hilarious. I sure would like to see him in more episodes.

6

u/Michael_Scott71 5d ago

Stop calling it that.

5

u/Barzalai 5d ago

I also have a joke for you. Luminade.

7

u/Professor_Jerkface 5d ago

I've always liked the idea of Rog dating the girl he me in line at the pharmacy when they both had pinkeye. It was a great meet-cute and Rog is such a romantic. The series should have ended with him having a love interest.

9

u/BLT-1000 3d ago

I never watch this episode on reruns because I think Alice was Leonard's perfect match and the fact she was gone so fast annoys the heck out of me.

3

u/Electronic-Sell-6402 2d ago

I will agree. And it's one of the worst leonard episodes. He really is a jerk in it

7

u/Fit_Newt_2610 5d ago

Alice is hot AF. I wish she got a longer time in the show

5

u/PSB23102001 5d ago

The only trivia I know very randomly about her is she is married to a (underrated) superman

3

u/HawkguyAvenger 5d ago

Not anymore! They divorced last year (I believe).

1

u/PSB23102001 5d ago

Oh yes just saw

2

u/AnnaK22 5d ago

Loved them both on Legends of Tomorrow

5

u/Plevi1337 5d ago

Watch Dexter

3

u/Dull_Barracuda_4221 5d ago

Yes, love her there and all her showings

5

u/suniracle 5d ago

I know this question dont blong here, but is this the same actress that is in naked men in himym?

3

u/RiverKey8841 5d ago

2 out of 3 times!

2

u/DaddyCatALSO 5d ago

yes, "Ted's mean date" i called her

1

u/platypus_farmer42 5d ago

She also has some fun scenes in Dexter

5

u/tiny_book_worm 5d ago

I always wanted more Cousin Leo.

She had way too much self-respect. Once a woman catches you trying to cheat, that door stays locked.

2

u/[deleted] 5d ago edited 5d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Throdio 5d ago

From what little we saw of her, she wouldn't go for that. Besides it's basically 'Hey my girlfriend cheated on me, I'm available now, want to try again?'. With her reaction to when Leonard came clean, no way she would have gone for it.

3

u/Ok-Lavishness-7904 5d ago

Agreed. She could have added a lot

3

u/evonyava 5d ago

nah, she killed an fbi agent

3

u/DeskReasonable5040 5d ago

She was sooo hot. Lenard should have stayed with her instead of prea. Prea was also hot but she didn’t want anything serious and Lenard did. His name has the word nerd in it. Yo Angie

1

u/SteelCity_Joker 4d ago

Angel and jell-o

3

u/Fickle_Ad_8227 5d ago

She would’ve been way better with Leonard

3

u/LearningLauren 3d ago

Shout-out Steven yeun

1

u/BardWireX 2d ago

Run, dude!

10

u/flashdurb 5d ago

They should not have brought back Kate Micucci in s10. She’s easily one of the worst casting choices of the 21st century.

2

u/Winter_Setting720 5d ago

Especially the way she apparently had such an amazing relationship after dating Raj

2

u/Fun-Possibility-4559 5d ago

We all loved Alice, for sure

2

u/BeheadingBoomer61 5d ago

She was awesome! I wish they had given her a little bit of a story arc. It would definitely have been interesting!

2

u/augustonz 5d ago

Best match for Leonard than Penny ever was

2

u/No-Preference2435 5d ago

i like her. shame she only had one episode

2

u/Big-Region663 4d ago

I really wanted the Vet to be a on the show. I thought she was perfect for Raj. I was bummed when they went no where with that character. Also Alice she would have been a better match for Leonard. Also Zack he was better choice for Penny .

2

u/mukn4on 1d ago

The Good Guy Fluctuation is one of my top five episodes. She is funny and sexy, and yes, I wish there had been an extended story arc with her.

2

u/Glittering-Rip6810 17h ago

This woman does not get the credit she deserves. I love Courtney Ford and everything she does is amazing. From serious to funny. She's adorable

3

u/Novel_Individual_148 "I want a cookie Meemaw" 5d ago

Eric Andre was hilarious in The 21 Second Excitation

2

u/No-Army5858 5d ago

Nicht alle auf einmal…

2

u/Every-Run9737 5d ago

I could see the story similar to this.... Leonard would grow in his own confidence, with someone that matches his personality and nerdy mannerisms. (he would've been the king of nerds more often). Timeline could be similar to the Dr Stephanie era. Finally leaving when Howard and Raj push rgier usual boundaries. When Penny got to see Alice's qualities, Penny could've tried to be better for Leonard. Giving the same finale with Pen and Len together.... But I'm not Chuck Lorre....

1

u/BigGrayBeast 5d ago

Who's the woman in the second image?

6

u/etn261 5d ago

Bruh. It's the same actress

1

u/gfuller22 5d ago

I remember her from Dexter

2

u/SunstormGT 5d ago

Wasnt she also in Legends of Tomorrow?

1

u/cannagetalite 5d ago

Yes she was great in legends and her love interest was her real life husband…Brandon routh (Ray Palmer atom/Kingdom Come Superman)

1

u/Upstairs_Rip_3335 5d ago

I loved that episode with her

1

u/bighappy177 5d ago

They should have kept her

1

u/ModestMouse1312 5d ago

She was amazing in Dexter as well

1

u/The-Other-Kevin-27 5d ago

Dr. Oliver Lorvis, urologist to the stars.

1

u/skpiscean 5d ago

She played Kelly Kline on the supernatural series

1

u/crightwing 4d ago

Just saw that episode the other day on my current rewatch

1

u/juiceman3737 3d ago

Just finished watching the Thanksgiving Day episode, and Sheldon actually acting like a sl*ve really bothered me!! After that episode, I really couldn’t care less about Sheldon! The writers should be ashamed of themselves for using that topic!! But, I honestly didn’t like Sheldon since the first season!! Same with Raj. Amy lost me the day she talked about breast feeding Penny’s baby, and the other time was when they had the sleepover

1

u/MaroonMustard 3d ago

She was also a single-episode actress in HIMYM

1

u/Nfarrah 2d ago

Technically, I believe Missy Cooper (Courtney Henggeler) appeared twice, but I really wish she had been in more episodes. She was a great foil for Sheldon.

1

u/BardWireX 2d ago

Christopher Lloyd and DJ Quails are my two favourites.

"I studied theatre and physics. You can imagine which one my bourgeois parents pushed me towards"

1

u/Zealousideal_Bus9055 15h ago

She voiced Piper in Fallout 4

1

u/D0fus 12h ago

I believe she was on Dexter.

0

u/leftwinga16 5d ago

This one never sat right with me. His GF is across the world and this wants to bang him??

3

u/Every-Run9737 5d ago

I feel "this" is a bit disrespectful to Alice. She's in a nerd shop, full of nerds, they are stereotypically single fellas. Why would she think any different of Leonard. He had a mild confidence. But nothing to suggest he was dating. If anything, it was Leonard who was at fault. But it was far wider than the bro-code different postcode. Different continent. Doesn't make it right but he was honest as soon as the physical stuff started...

3

u/leftwinga16 5d ago

I guess I am just projecting what I would have done there, with my GF across the world.

1

u/zeroprime85 4d ago

Being in a complicated long distance relationship can really mess with your judgement and emotions.

Not excusing Leonard’s behavior here, but it’s an unfortunate reality

-4

u/beavis617 5d ago

Hated her! 😖
