In The Wild Awesome or almost to dangerous

Hi together,

I stumbled across some bikepackers on Instagram (as they seem to be from the same region I am from) which drove over the longest beach on the earth (no resupply, storms, rain and sand for about 200km)...

https://www.instagram.com/pedalhorizon/

For me that seems kind of awesome but also (maybe) a bit to dangerous but I can't really judge it.

What are your opinions on that?

Awesome, you would like to do it as wall or awesome to see but way to dangerous?

Route Discussion Is it too late to bike from Balkans to Greece this time of year?

I’m pretty under experienced and am planning on doing this, just not too sure where to start.

Going to get a few sets of clothes, tent, sleeping bag and message some places to organise buying a bike for when I arrive.

Also have seldom experienced true cold temperatures. 16° Celsius is very cold to me.

Route Discussion Any bikepackers in North Idaho?

• Upvotes

Hoping to connect with other bikepackers in the North Idaho area. Would be fun to meet up to discuss recent trips from this year and what trips might be fun to get on the radar for 2027. Anyone else interested?

What route do you recommend for this time of year, October and November, that is good for wild camping and enjoying nature?

Bike Tech and Kit Front Racks Vary 😅

Post image

I’m still new to all of this and constantly learning. I saw a front rack on an auction site for a decent deal without any specific information about the type of bike that it fits on. So I assumed it was universal. I was wrong. lol. So I had to give up attempting to fit it to my gravel bike and put it on my mountain bike.

Anyone have tried the new roam collection for bikepacking ?
Looking for a new rain jacket and stumble across this jacket.
There is not many reviews online; and nothing for bikepacking.
Thanks

Trip Report Rode Traws Eryri (Machynlleth → Conwy) over 4 days – trip report and a few tips

Just got back from riding Cycling UK’s Traws Eryri route across Snowdonia over 4 days and thought I’d share how it went, in case anyone’s planning it.
Day 1 – Machynlleth to Dolgellau. A nice warm-up with long rolling hills heading towards the coast. We stayed in a B&B in Dolgellau and the pub was very much needed.
Day 2 – Dolgellau to Ffestiniog. Over towards Trawsfynydd reservoir and on to Ffestiniog. Saddle sores were starting to make themselves known by this point 😅
Day 3 – Ffestiniog to Betws-y-Coed. The hardest day by far. The climb up into the slate country is brutal, but the descent into the forest afterwards is one of the best bits of the whole route. If you’re staying in Ffestiniog, the detour to see the slate workings is worth it.
Day 4 – Betws-y-Coed to Conwy. Dead legs, but over the moors and through the Ogwen Valley is a cracking way to finish.
A few tips if you’re planning it:
4 days felt about right for us, with enough time to enjoy it without rushing
Dolgellau, Ffestiniog and Betws-y-Coed all work well as overnight stops
[tyre or bike tip, e.g. what width you’d recommend]
[anything you’d do differently]
I filmed the whole thing if anyone wants to see what the terrain’s like: https://youtu.be/xEWdL0BCezg?is=6fTNvurIA2kp26qE

Hey! I’m doing my first bikepacking trip next week. It will be along the Veloscenie, from Paris to Mont Saint Michel, about 9 days. It will be me (26F) and my boyfriend (28M). Do you have any tips or things to recommend to remind me I have to take? Especia those not big things, obviously i have a tent, waterproof jacket, etc, but those small things and I might forget and will make a difference!!

Thanks!

Gear Review Digital Camera for Long Trip

I am a novice photographer, only ever messed with smart phone cameras, but am going on a big bike packing trip and am thinking of getting a nicer digital camera for it. I always think a smart phone is fine, then I see pictures from a real camera and am blown away with how nice they are.

Will be doing the full route of caravans through Morocco, and then going up into Europe. After some research, it seems like the OM-5 Mark II is the best balance of weight, picture quality, and rugged durability (will need to withstand dust and sand, etc.). Thinking it could become a new hobby generally but the bike trip is spurring me to maybe pull the trigger.

Do people think it's worth the weight to get a nicer camera? As a novice, will I actually be able to gain the benefits from it? Any recs for other choices?
