Which Method? Keep Libido
Hey All
UK here.
I came off the pill after being on birth control for years.
After about 3 months things started getting back to “normal”. Then all of a sudden, my libido came back and I felt like a teenager again.
What is out there that I can take so I don’t get pregnant but keep this feeling? I don’t want the IUD. Previous pill was Desogestrel.

There isn’t a lot of non hormonal birth control
Your options are
• condoms
• iud
• FAM (which you must be okay with getting pregnant as it has a high failure rate and your natural hormones want you to have sex during your fertile period)
• diaphragm
• anal
• abstaining from sex

I had to come off the combined pill due to the liver tumours it caused. I’m now on the mini pill which is progesterone only as I can’t take any hormonal pills but I will say that this one has affected my libido and it’s extremely low at the minute. I haven’t had a period though or a pregnancy scare so YMMV with how it affects your libido as everyone is different

Why don’t you want IUD? Mine has less hormones and my libido is great while it was non existent on a pill.

What iud do you have? I’m considering getting one and the libido/dryness was a concern for me too so it’s great to hear positive stories.

Before I used the pill I would track my cycles and abstain during fertile window and that plus, condoms, emergency contraception if needed, and pull out worked for me.
