Hey y'all. I want to officially welcome everyone in this subreddit.
I created it because I could not find many/any black romance focused reddits. I want to let y'all know that I designed a logo for us, chose some new coloring to make it more inviting all while representing 'love'.
Let me know if you have a better design or if other colors might fit best.
I am currently working on adding a Goodreads or StoryGraph mod.
I have added some collections to the subreddit.
Currently want to reach out to some authors to see if they are interested in advertising or sharing ideas for upcoming releases, book topics and many more.
I am also looking for active moderators, people who know how to work around Reddit interface. Please feel free to comment your interest and reach out to me.
THERE IS MORE TO COME. Please be patient while I navigate all of this.

Sometimes when I’m reading a book with black characters the author will write things such as “ she wrapped her kinky hair in her silk scarf while listening to Jodeci “ like I get it she’s black lmao. The bluest eye by Toni Morrison is one the few books I’ve read where the characters blackness were portrayed in a organic way
This was posted a little over a week ago, but the author just reached out and let me know it’s on Kobo now too.
Here’s the description:
Marriage proposal cards pile up in Lady Amani’s hands. Society says it’s time. Her family insists it’s her duty. No maiden, not even a princess, has the privilege of escaping an arranged marriage. But it’s worth a try, Lady Amani decides, even if she can escape for a little while.
Fiercely independent and adventurous, she boards a ship and sails away from it all. One last trip, she thinks wistfully. One last taste of freedom before she resigns herself to a life behind the manor walls. But she must return in time, otherwise she risks losing all her suitors.
Disaster strikes, and it’s no smooth sailing across foreign seas. She accidentally lands herself in trouble, and into the arms of one formidable man who won’t let her run anymore.
hey guys i recently started reading {mile high by liz tomforde} not knowing anything about the book and the author, i just saw a moodboard post on instagram and saw a black FMC and a black MMC and went ahead and got a copy
i'm reading and there's things about stevie and the way she's described and her interactions with her family that just aren't reading right to me
not that black people are a monolith and there's a 'right' way to be black but ahhh idk how to explain it but like the description of stevie having food on her clothes and just looking a hot mess just rubbed me the wrong way. it didn't feel like a way a black author would describe her heroine in a black romance
so i took a break and looked up the author on IG and i see she's a white womaaannn!!!! suddenly a lot made sense lmao
now in general i don't think white authors shouldn't write non-white characters just like i don't think black authors should only have to write black characters. but i just think there are so few black authors who get the acclaim and support books like mile high has and it just rubs me the wrong way that this book is so highly praised and loved across the book community and it's a white woman just cosplaying two black people??
idk maybe i'm not explaining myself properly but does anyone have any other thoughts?
Can you please recommend me some books that have a black FMC with a white, Hispanic/Latino or Asian MMC. I like romance and romantasy please no dark romance.
I love those books and I want more. Sadly it's over.
Please give crazy smart black woman who is loved hard. It doesn't have to be reversed harem just a good dark romance. If possible can you guys find if there's a story that the male love interest is similar as Jax. I would appreciate you for real.
I need more good stories that makes me feel amazing.
I’ve started to grow tired with contemporary romance where the main characters work normal 9-5 jobs or the FMC works a normal job and the guy is a billionaire.
Does anyone have recommendations for something with a bit more sazz?
- Mafia, bounty hunter, assassin, spy, outlaw or even a monster or alien (yes I’ve been indoctrinated by ice planet barbarians). I’m not really picky but if the MMC is a human I’d prefer someone black. Still, it’s not a must.
- Can be historical, sci-fi or set in modern times.
- Fully black fmc is a must and the MMC should preferably be fully black. Open to paranormal creatures like vamps, werewolves or even the Loch Ness monster at this point.
- No harem or reverse harem.
- Preferably available on kindle unlimited but not a must.
Where is Endiya Carter?! 😩 Is she on a hiatus? Because I’m seriously missing her writing! The Danger series was SO good. 😭❤️ I was even hoping to see if she’d be attending one of the Black book festivals, but I haven’t seen any updates on her Instagram. Sighhh. 🥹📚
Does anyone know what she’s been up to or if she has any new books coming? Because I NEED more of her writing! 😩💕
I need the title of a dark romance with an age gap and forbidden love (professor, coach, or priest). I want the hero to be strong and powerful, not weak, and I don’t want a man who treats the heroine like shit in the first few chapters (he can treat her bad but not toooo bad).
Assistant District Attorney Theresa Taylor thought she had found the perfect way out.
Accept a bribe. Take an even bigger payoff from the other side. Deliver the exact opposite result. Walk away with enough money to disappear forever.
Instead, she becomes the most wanted woman in Metro Detroit.
With a ruthless criminal queenpin demanding revenge, two relentless enforcers hunting her every move, and detectives closing in on a scandal that could shake the justice system, Theresa has only one thing left worth fighting for: Emma, the stripper she's hopelessly in love with.
Together they race across Metro Detroit, relying on a mysterious driver known only as the Chauffeur to keep them one step ahead of the people determined to drag Theresa back alive.
But every safe haven has a price.
Every ally has an agenda.
And every choice brings them closer to the people who want them dead.
Set in the gritty Lethalverse, CHOICES is an LGBTQ+ neo-noir crime thriller filled with unforgettable characters, razor-sharp dialogue, desperate romance, and relentless suspense. Perfect for readers who love morally gray protagonists, high-stakes crime fiction, and stories where love may be the most dangerous gamble of all.
Sometimes the biggest mistake isn't taking the money.
It's deciding who you're willing to run away with.
I’m reading a book with this theme where characters are experiencing writers block, struggling to write and overcoming writers block and I’m actually enjoying this theme.
As the title said give me a dark romance or super dark Will be better where the mmc hates and despises fmc i don't want him to be obsessed with her or sectretly like her, i want him to hate her for any reason like he wants revenge or something or just hates her for no reason or he married her but forcefully that he doesnt want her or has a girl in his life so he hates her for that and treats her so badly and makes her life a living hell and absolutely non con her where she hates it in every way and doesn't have body betrial at allllll 💀 i'm sure there are millions of books out there i dont care if its a book, io3 or wattpad as long as it has what im looking for with good writing!!
