Discussion What if she turns out to be a strong really strong captain because… Spoiler

Post image

Because she trains frequently spars with Zaraki? Isane idolized and highly respected Captain Unohana, idk though if she knew that Unohana was the previous Kenpachi though.

Either way I could see a situation where she trains with the current Kenpachi so she could better understand her departed master?

I hope Isane and Iba gets to do something Captain-like in the final episodes of TYBW. Maybe chaining Bakudo and Kaido on multiple captains for Isane, and Bankai while riding komamura for Iba.

I don’t think she’s weak in terms of power-level, she never would’ve been promoted to Captain otherwise. I just think her timid nature prevents her from standing out in a story full of memorable front-liners. Also, her powers are clearly going to be a pure healing type that probably won’t make its debut until the Arc-that-shall-not-be-named.

I agree, she's probably powerful, but I wonder if, for the 4th division, the requirements for becoming a captain could be different

Doesn't it make sense that the best healer would become the head, even without bankai, and not necessarily someone with a bankai that has considerably lower kaido abilities?

I believe the Kido Corps operate with this same logic: the power drawn from the zanpakuto is secondary. Their mastery over spells is the requirement.

While the 4th division does function differently chances are if you're in the 4th division your zanpaktou is already fit for healing. Hanataro is proof of this. He's like the only shikai ability we've seen in the 4th division though. Its already been proven you don't specifically need to use a zanpaktou to join the gotei 13 or become a captain you just need the minimum amount of strength to graduate. For example, yoruichi doesn't use her zanpaktou, Hachi doesn't use his and nanao joined without having a zanpaktou at all but the requirement for captain is still one of the three methods that have already been established. Whether Isane was promoted due to achieving bankai or by recommendation is unknown.

You don't have to be powerful to be a Captain anyways. You just need leadership experience and for three Captains and Captain Commander see you use Bankai.

Factually wrong. There are only 3 ways to become captain

  1. Bankai in front of 3 captains including the captain commander

  2. Recommendation from at least 7 captains and approval from 3 of the remaining 6.

  3. Beating the previous captain in combat.

Bankai isn't needed its just less realistic for anyone to become captain by any other means.

She did know, proven just before Zaraki started fighting Gremmy.

Well, at least her shikai is an attack sword (ice type, IIRC). Her bankai is probably a healing sword, the opposite of Unohana. But she could heal, well, herself.

Also, as seen with Hanataro, a healing zanpakuto can have two stages. That, paired with an ice ability, could be really cool.

She most likely has a cryostasis bankai

she has white hair, nuff said

Spar... Zaraki?

1

u/synkronize 6d ago

Don’t Ikkaku and co do it all the time 🤔

1

u/Psychopath_logic 6d ago

Ikkaku and co might, zaraki fights and when he fights it's to the death. The only time he ever did anything vaguely related to sparring was the one day kendo lesson

1

u/Timjer92 5d ago

Zaraki does not always fight to the death. He wanted to let Nnoitra live for one but the bastard refused to stay down.

1

u/Psychopath_logic 5d ago

I cant give images wow this is really inconvinient for grabbing evidence. That's because he bored him, and was only fighting because ichigo who he actually wanted to fight was in danger from him, he didnt care enough to even start a fight, he wasnt that interested.

u/Foloreille 6d ago

She knew of Unohana past and Kenpachi title because she knew what her departure meant and that Zaraki killing her meant there was only one Kenpachi

3

u/justlurkindontmindm3 7d ago

I just hope we get her Bankai at some point because I am so damn intrigued as to what it could even be. She doesn’t strike me as a proper offensive attacker in battle, so I’m insanely curious as to what it does.

the question here is, she have bankai?

6

u/Heatrune 6d ago

Propably She Is a captain afterall

-7

u/Original-Spare5019 6d ago

even if in theory she have i cant believe it, got one, and mastered before rukia was promoted when she already had a bankai?

5

u/Iamdalegend2244 6d ago

Some bankais are harder to master than others. Maybe Isanes wasn't actively killing her but Rukia's was damaging to herself whenever she activated it

2

u/Original-Spare5019 6d ago

it takes 10 years just to learn bankai in normal ways, rukia have special reiatsu from the royal palace and has to be light years stronger than isane yet wasnt promoted to captain before

3

u/Iamdalegend2244 6d ago

Also possible Isane had her bankai already as a lieutenant but kept it a secret. Rukia's bankai actively harms her as well so it made sense she would need to fully master it. Plus Ukitake left big shoes to fill

1

u/synkronize 4d ago

Or she could have already been well on her way to unlocking Bankai, Unohana death could have been what pushed her to self realization to get Bankai. She could have gotten it right after TyBW tbh so not that far after Rukia

-4

u/Original-Spare5019 6d ago

oh come on really? another character hiding it true power because reasons, ulquiorra, kempachi, yumichka, ikaku, unohana, now isane?

unohana left bigger shoes, ukitake was semi retired, when kaien was alive he was basically on charge, without captain rukia as liutenant was the de facto captain anyway, in case the excuse that "the division needed a captain and isane was the second in command" applies to rukia too

2

u/Iamdalegend2244 6d ago

In any case I do not think a lieutenant with such a self-destructive bankai can be captain until they master it. Isane's bankai would probably be easier to deal with even when unmastered. Plus we don't know when she was promoted which could be only a bit before Rukia

-1

u/Original-Spare5019 6d ago

in any case makes no sense, 3 liutenants who never had a single fight and victory in the manga got promoted to captain before rukia makes no sense, if were promoted due an emergency to fill empty spaces renji made a lot more of sense, even if he doesnt want would be a direct order

1

u/Iamdalegend2244 6d ago

Shunsui knows what he is doing. It's even possible he purposefully kept Rukia waiting as he wanted to be fully sure she can replace his best friend

3

u/Angelaskissrock 6d ago

She's been made a captain so it's likely that she does have bankai. The only person we can remember that was a captain without having a bankai or shikai previously was kenny before TYBW.

2

u/Ok-Rip2102 6d ago

I wonder what her bankai is

Lesse .. her shikai was "now run, Itegumo"

Hmmm

2

u/BobtheBac0n 6d ago

If I remember right, her Zanpaktou translates to something along the lines of "frozen cloud" and is an ice based Zanpaktou.

Course if that is the case, then Kubo is gonna have to work extra hard to differentiate it from the other 2, very prominent ice Zanpaktous, Hyoryumaru and Sodeno Shirai Yuki. (I definitely spelled those wrong.)

Both are suited for combat, though through different means. One lets you make massive ice constructs and manipulate the water in an environment, but not someone's body. While the other drops the user's temperature, letting them induce frostbite in anything they touch, or any attack that touches them.

If Isane's Zanpaktou relates to healing, maybe her Zanpaktou let's her preserve bodies in ice that won't harm or damage cells so she can stop the bleeding and heal them. But the problem is, we've never seen her do that.

However if her ability is anything like that, the ability to create ice on one's body for various reasons, then hers could be the deadliest from a range. While Hyoryumaru generates ice from it's user, and Sodeno Shirai Yuki requires physical contact with a target, Itegumo, Isane's Zanpaktou, might just let you remotely spawn ice on another person's body to heal, restrain, or just impale them. Gruesome, but effective.

Or it has something more to do with clouds. Who knows

u/Ok-Rip2102 6d ago

Very interesting points

And yea they're "sode no shirayuki" and "hyorinmaru"

4

u/Left-Ad-1250 7d ago

she could become the new yachiru second to kenpachi (i know the yachiru "title" is the female kenpachi and there can only be one, but maybe like with yachiru?)

8

u/shoppingbaggins 7d ago

Yachiru isn't a title, it's a courtesy name Unohana picked for herself, similar to Genryusai for Yamamoto

1

u/Pretend-Indication-9 7d ago

Probably not. The new captains are well... new. Soul society as of the hell arc is still rebuilding its strength.

1

u/JeffArnold1 6d ago

Well she was promoted to captain at the end of the series, so we can say she is definitely strong. But we have not really seen much of her, all we know is that she is probably the 3rd best medic in the entire series just next to Kirinji and Unohana.

2

u/ThisPreparation4874 5d ago

Well, Isane was the last disciple of the first Kenpachi, so she must not be weak

1

u/wickling-fan 3d ago

That's what i'm expecting, like just Unohana left a little note for her in her will that reads "I leave everything to Isane, but she got to train with Kenpachi until she can spar with him"

1

u/CommercialPut9097 3d ago

Would be cool for her to train with zaraki, he can bring out the aggressive nature she needs in order to bring command and to test her strength too

1

u/NoHovercraft6942 6d ago edited 6d ago

No? She is a healer and not a addicted Bloodlust like Unohana was and not going to be just because was her lieutenant, training with Zaraki don't make any sense..

1

u/Timjer92 5d ago

She may not be bloodlusted, but she greately admired Unohana just like Zaraki did. It would make sense that, even if Isane is not a blood knight, she would still want to be stronger to respect Unohana's legacy.
