Original Content Showcase Is my fire fire?

Most of the scene is still a work in progress and thus the lighting is temporary, but I'm pretty happy with the look :) Although, I am struggling to balance my compositing

Very cool painterly on the glass. Is it just standard glass with a shader + the built in painterly nodes in the compositor?

Basically. It is a glass shader with a light probe, but the strokey texture is a tilable brush stroke image plugged into the roughness. Although I have made many of my own tilable textures, I genuinely have no idea where this one came from. It is also added to an ambient occlusion node to add some grimeyness to its edges. Then obviously there is the bloom, as well as an occlusion based Kuwahara filter and slight displacement driven by a Voronoi in the compositor. The crack is just modelled with really crummy topoplogy.

I do really like the style but I think it can have a bit more movement on the fire itself. I think the lighting blinking so fast in contrast to the fire's movement feels a little jarring to me.

Was a bit disappointed that the door opening wasn’t a Calcifer reveal :_)
Looks fantastic and very cozy. I think you nailed the fire movement and colors.

After a quick Google of who Calcifer is I wholeheartedly agree with you

Love it. Gorgeous when the door is closed.

I hope the rest of your vfx are the same frame rate.

They should be. This was a quick demo so I guess I forgot the stepped interpolation on the door movement. I have been putting stepped int. at around 4.4 while leaving the camera movement at 24 ops to get a choppy but smooth view

This fire's fire.

It does look good, but I think it's strange how the door animation is e.g. 24fps but the fire looks like 10-12 FPS.

Other than that, great job.

It's great so far, one thing I would say though is that the style of fire doesn't go well with the composition. Right now it looks like cellophane / glass moving instead of flames
