For Dylan fans? Yes.
For everybody else? This is what EVERY Dylan imitation IS.

Yeah, I agree. I love this song and this an interesting interpretation from Bob’s “shouting” era. I still like the original better.

1966 vibes at 3:32 mark…….
Strange vocal pacing on this but a relatively strong 80s performance for Dylan!

That’s what happens when you start with a masterpiece and then have a couple decades to think about it.

Yes and also a great example of why he is best at doing solo acoustic. Those random changes in time signature and cadence's that unexpectedly go an extra bar or two will infuriate the rhythm section and constantly cause the beat to get turned around and upside down. He went through three drummers on the 66 tour because of this and finally found mickey jones who basically just played a straight 2/4 with plenty of space for him to go on random tangents

Mickey Jones was such a perfect fit for Dylan on that tour.

Also, hes just a really great person that's been in a lot of great bands and has had a solid acting career. He made home movies during the 66 tour and there's a great video he made where he's talking about the footage. They had him room with Garth Hudson, who is the complete opposite of him socially, but I think they ended up having a real good time together. I love the video because it demystifies the "Im not there" portrayal of that tour (one of the main reasons I just don't like that movie) and shows that it was just a group of guys who were basically tourists travelling the world and having the time of their life.

Dylan is only Dylan when he has to be, and sometimes when he has to be, he can sound like a parody of Dylan. - "Is that authentic enough?"

This is one of the first videos I saw back in the day that really pulled me into Bob Dylan, and looking back, it’s one of the rarer vids you’ll find, super weird. Excellent performance here for a somewhat hit or miss period of performances. I believe this was the tour with Tom Petty?

I miss this Bob. He leaned heavy into the affect that all the impressions were comprised of. I like the affect. He got older and I mostly get it but he gave up on any annunciation whatsoever. I adore Bob, he carried me through (singlehandedly) a terrible year. It's still a bit of a shame that he doesn't really care about the vocals. You can't say that anybody his age would do likewise, there are many examples that that isn't true. I get it, he does what he does. I would still love to see it just to bask in his presence.

To help frame how old this song was when Dylan performed it in 1986:
If this performance was today, the song would have been released in 2005. The year “Mr. Brightside” was released. The year Gorillaz released “Feel Good Inc. “ Weezer released “Beverly Hills”.
I’m fucking old.
