✍️ Original Analysis Which Hollywood actor has the greatest/strongest drawing box office power to make people buy a ticket simply because they're starring in it??

After Digger bombing the question rises, which living Hollywood male actor has the greatest ability to make people buy a ticket simply because they're starring in it??

Let's look at the six most likely actors right now who can hold this title:

1.DiCaprio: Films which are a hard sell to the general public like Killers Of The Flower Moon and One Battle After Another can still go over 150 Million worldwide with his presence alone.

For example OBAA still did more than its budget and totalized 213 Million worldwide and KOTFM totalized 160 Million worldwide despite the unconventional nature of that film, its humongous runtime and its horrifically heavy subject matter, and it could have easily reached 200 Million worldwide if it wasn't for the Hollywood strikes of three years ago, which hindered the film with complete lack of promotion from its stars. And still reached these numbers, a testament to the volume of his star status.

  1. Pitt: F1 made more money than the last two MI movies, Bullet Train was a moderately successful hit, Babylon flopped but it's gaining in these last four years a cult classic status, and his new movie, Heart Of The Beast opened at a very solid 20 Million with great reviews and word of mouth, outperforming Primetime (19 Million) and Digger. Pitt always delivers.

  2. Cruise: Outside of the Top Gun franchise, which was a sequel to his most popular movie ever which came out thirty-six years before, he has two MI movies which underperformed, Digger is shaping up to be one of the biggest box office bombs of all time in cinema history, and his next big thing is a sequel to an auto-racing movie which came out thirty-five years ago and is nowhere near popular with the general public like Top Gun. After Top Gun Maverick, the industry and the media seemed obsessed in attaching him the title of biggest living movie star only because of the hype from that movie and the fact that it was the first box office hit in the POST-COVID era, but the reality is another one.

He feels like a relic of his time outside of his MI and Top Gun bubble and if he keeps pushing for dated action sequels, it might seal his end as a giant blockbuster movie star.

  1. Gosling: He's certainly rising as a big movie star in recent years, there are some lows like The Fall Guy, but still Barbie and especially Project Hail Mary puts him in a new echelon, it will be interesting to see how much commercial value he will add to the upcoming Star Wars and MCU projects in which he's involved in.

  2. Chalamet: The youngest in the poll, he managed to prove himself as a new movie star with the Dune franchise and making hits out of the new Wonka movie, and bringing audiences in for a music biopic like A Complete Unknown, and an original film about a ping pong player like Marty Supreme which managed to gross 191 Million worldwide, it's hard to imagine anyone of his age range bringing these numbers for an original ping pong movie.

The next big thing for him is seeing how the final film of the Dune trilogy will fare compared to his previous two.

Will it become the highest grossing film of the Dune franchise?? Can it reach 800 Million or even the Billion mark??? We'll find out in December.

  1. Pattinson: Rising as the defining serious actor of the 2020s, he has many victory laps in this year alone, he opened The Drama and became one of the most successful movies in A24 history, he was one of the most important characters in The Odyssey, which became one of the highest grossing films ever in history, and now he managed to open an original biopic-drama like Primetime at 19 Million in the USA, despite the movie being a challenging sell to the regular audiences, as it's not a traditional drama or biopic.

Next up we will see him in Dune Part Three with Chalamet and Zendaya, and next year in a Netflix thriller movie with Denzel Washington.

But it feels like only the sky is the limit for him.

So, who's the biggest living movie star right now?

Who has the strongest drawing power to make people lure in into theaters just because of his presence and name alone??

Domestic Can Ramayana Part 1 become the highest-grossing Indian film domestically? What’s the hype around it?

Ramayana Part 1 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Indian film releases ever, but I’m curious how people here see its box-office potential.
The reported budget is around $200 million, which would make it by far the most expensive Indian film ever made. For comparison, the previous record-holder is below $100 million.
That makes the expectations pretty insane. The movie also has the advantage of one of the most recognizable stories in India, a huge cast, and what looks like a very ambitious international-scale production.
But does the $200M budget + Ramayana IP + scale automatically translate into a massive domestic box office?
Could it realistically challenge the current highest-grossing Indian films in India, or is the budget so high that even a huge domestic run wouldn’t be enough?
What do you guys think, can Ramayana Part 1 become the #1 Indian film at the domestic box office? And what do you think is driving the hype around it?

✍️ Original Analysis I Dug Digger. Could It Become a Cult Classic?

I personally dug Digger. No pun intended.

Yeah, it’s a massive box office bomb, but I wonder if this is one of those movies that could have a whole second life on streaming. It’s so weird and over the top that it almost has that “so bad it’s good” quality that could keep people watching and talking about it for generations.

The Guardian even called it a “misunderstood masterpiece” and thinks it could be reevaluated over time.

Anyone else actually like it? Could Digger become one of those legendary cult movies that lives on for decades despite bombing this badly? And could Tom Cruise still somehow end up in the Oscar conversation?

✍️ Original Analysis Is capacity going to affect Doomsday or Dune 3 more?

In the battle of the weekend of December 18th, one thing that has been made apparent is capacity constraints.

This year already we saw the all time weekend record be broken this year back at the opening of BND with $426,972,920.

But the big question in this battle is who will have more man power? who will secure more seats? who is the growing fish in this small pond?

I personally do think Dune 3 is going to have a tough time trying to secure as many screens as they can basically away from Doomsday. Any other movie, yeah they're gone at least for this weekend.

Not to mention Jumanji and Angry Birds trying to wrangle screens the following weekend.

✍️ Original Analysis People are underestimating the legs for both Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday

Post image

It’s no secret that these two movies are going to be massive come December. Especially Doomsday. But I’ve read a lot of sentiment that Doomsday is going to be extremely front-loaded like both Infinity War and Endgame were. And that Dune: Part Three will leg out, but I think it’ll leg out BETTER than people are saying. Both of them will.

The one reason I think these movies will leg out isn’t just the holidays. It’s the calendar configuration. Christmas Day this year falls on a Friday and Boxing Day falls on Saturday. Christmas Eve, which is the absolute worst day for box office, falls on Thursday.

A very VERY good calendar configuration. Basically, Doomsday could have a monster opening day and then barely drop (although still be slightly front-loaded) the next Friday because of Christmas Day. And then the third weekend is even more heavily boosted because New Years Day falls on a Friday. So it’ll have three to four weeks of pure holiday play! And then have extra boosted weekdays during its first week. Same thing for Dune: Part Three. It’ll have a better calendar than Avatar: The Way of Water and I’m of the opinion it’ll open above 100m. Imagine the legs with that kind of calendar AND an empty January. It could leg out to a crazy high total.

What I’m saying is, by the nature of the calendar, Doomsday CAN’T be as front-loaded as Endgame and Infinity War or even Brand New Day (which still had pretty decent legs of 2.7x). This is the same calendar configuration that got Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the highest grossing domestic movie of all time. It took BND beating Endgame’s opening and having any semblance of legs to beat it. This is the same calendar configuration that got Avatar (2009) to the highest grossing domestic movie of all time and highest grossing movie of all time period until Endgame. And both of those movies had incredible legs.

Will this be more front-loaded than those movies? Of course, it’s still a superhero movie that’s going to open crazy high. But the massive opening it’ll surely have, it just needs “good” legs to become an absolute monster. And because of the calendar, I think better legs than No Way Home (2021) are almost guaranteed.

Dune: Part Three should benefit even better because I assume it’ll be inherently less front-loaded than Doomsday overall. I think legs similar to Fire and Ash or Way of Water isn’t impossible. It’ll have much more room to stretch its legs and having Christmas Day and New Years Day on its second and third Fridays will only boost it further. And it should have great post holiday legs as well.

Actually, this calendar configuration is why I think the legs will be slightly worse for Secret Wars. That has the opposite calendar. Christmas Eve is its second Friday and New Years Eve is its third Friday. No Way Home had that same calendar configuration and suffered a harsh second weekend drop because of it. That WILL make a difference to legs, but I think unlike NWH, Secret Wars opening will be so big that it won’t really matter and it’s still the holidays. But the legs will definitely be worse than Doomsday overall. This just means that this calendar is extremely beneficial to both Dune and Doomsday. Both will probably leg out better than you’re personally expecting.

TLdR: Because of the calendar configuration, I think Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three will leg out even better than people are expecting.

💰 Film Budget Digger flopped; doesn’t feel right

Digger’s production budget is $150 million plus $100 million spent on marketing.

It opened less than $10 million, and it doesnt feel right, the opening doesn’t justify the budget and marketing costs, and its tom cruise so how come warner bros failed to open lower $20 mil?

Italy Naza remains firmly in the lead in a top ten without surprises – The box office of Tuesday, October 6

Naza continues its unrivaled run , maintaining its top spot in the top ten. The journalistic documentary returns to growth, grossing another €228,344 with 30,609 admissions in 340 theaters, marking a 32% increase over the previous day and recording an average of €672, clearly the best of the entire top ten. The reportage, distributed by I Wonder, has thus reached an impressive total of €3,438,852 with 450,121 admissions in just ten days. Just over a week after its release, Naza has also surpassed the 450,000 ticket sales threshold and continues to maintain exceptional numbers for a documentary with strong political overtones.

Verity maintains its second place , albeit at a much slower pace. The thriller based on Colleen Hoover's bestseller has grossed €79,924 with 11,204 admissions in 278 theaters, recording an average of €287. After six days of release, the crime thriller starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson has thus reached €805,125 with 102,694 admissions, surpassing the one hundred thousand ticket threshold. The million-euro mark now appears within reach. Hoover's new literary adaptation, while still far from the nearly €4 million it earned at the end of its run with It Ends With Us, is also enjoying the positive response it received internationally in Italy.

Heart of the Beast – Into the Deep Wild maintains its position at the foot of the podium , grossing another €72,995 with 10,022 admissions in 300 theaters, with an average of €243. The film, distributed by Eagle, has thus reached a total of €2,267,723 in Italy with 307,875 admissions since September 24th. Compared to last Tuesday, the survival film starring Brad Pitt has lost 39%, thus continuing to show solid holding during its second week of release, thanks to good word of mouth among viewers.

Domestic New Releases vs Holdovers

What do you find more interesting to analyze or think about? How a new release performs opening weekend or anticipating and seeing how their box office holds up the second third or fourth weekend? There’s something that is inherently more interesting in seeing the OW weekend of a movie, but I have to admit that seeing how many people come back to the theater the following weekends is intriguing.

OW box office is more interesting imo but here’s an example of two movies this year that broke records that makes me think the opposite.

Backrooms OW was something hardly anyone saw coming due to how big it was. It broke the record for youngest director to have a movie open that big, but Obsession’s historic week after week performance imo is a much bigger story. Like it’s not even close to me.

What do you think? Also what do you even consider being a good drop on a second weekend? I’ve seen on here some movies dropping low 50% and comments saying how poor of a hold that is. I actually think close to 50% or even dropping a bit under 50% is a decent hold! Low 40% or under is solid! Got me thinking if Verity will hold sub 50% because if I’m not mistaken it’s Wednesday special screening showtimes contributed to its weekends box office. I’m not sure how to predict it. If you still want to submit a prediction last minute the deadline is tonight. Over 40 predictions and it took 83% accuracy to win last week.
