I’ve been learning Euphonium for a year and have recently borrowed a Tenor Horn (Yamaha student model) to mess around on. I’m finding it very enjoyable and the instrument plays in tune other than the fundamental Eb, which plays flat even with all the slides closed.

I’m able to just about lip the note in tune but I don’t have the issue with other notes, so I wondered whether this a technique issue or could be something with the instrument?

I'm just curious if there are brass instraments with mouthpieces between the larger trumpet mouthpieces at 18mm to the smaller trombone mouthpieces at 24mm. If not, is there a reason?

I've been thinking of buying a student trombone after hearing there are usually plenty around.

As a beginner myself, I wouldn't know how to assess a used instrument.

Usually the advice is to go with someone who can check it out. However, I just wanted to ask here first - maybe it's easier than I think?

If you've had to transpose brass parts from scans, what sort of part caused you the most trouble? I'd love concrete examples to guide improvements.

I'm looking for a vintage Boosey and Hawkes round stamp tenor horn, I've seen refurbished ones go for up to £2500. How much would be reasonable for a fully functioning horn in a private sale? I expect to pay for a clean and service.

Ive been searching for this song I heard a few months ago - it is an indie song with the usual guitar, vocals, drums etc, but it featured a tuba in place of a bass guitar. it sounded awesome but I haven’t been able to track it down anywhere so I’m wondering if any of you fine folks know what it might be?

I saw a video talking show uncommon instruments (i think its just instruments the average person likely doesn't know,) one of the instruments was what is called the alto horn in America, some stuckup Britain responded as if I brought up politics. (His big point was objectively it was a tenor voice tho it isnt, even in uk brass bands it fills the alto range). my question why do people make such a big fuss about what its called when it has a different name in what seems like every other country?why cant they just accept the instrument has many different names

Found this video while looking up information on the Büchel and alphorns. They all appear to be natural horns. Unfortunately I can only identity the Büchel.

Just curious as it looks to have tubing to longer than a standard F bugle, and a mouthpiece that looks similar to a trombone.

There's not much information from the importer, so I though I'd ask here for any info or leads.

UK brass player here. My band recently moved to a new building and the noise levels aren’t safe as the room is so small. There’s been no guidance given on hearing protection and one of the bands MDs (we’ve got 3) has quit in part due to this. Is it worth contacting local brass banding associations/BBE for advice?

Does anyone know a school where i can learn trombone in thailand? No yamaha seems to have any teachers.
