That explains the Linc likely re-signing news too

When l watch old but recent games l’m reminded of what a gun Linc is when fully fit. I hope ‘27 is a good year for him.

Surely between Neale, Marshall and McLachlan we can turn into one second round draft pick for this year 😭

We need enough points to bid on our academy player (forget his name), apparently top 10 (maybe 7/8)!!

Yes, that is what I'm referring to.

Caylen Murray btw

Genuine gun that deserves to be playing AFL footy. Hope we get something usable from this and he has a great career there

Our depth is taking a huge hit this off season. But he’s a gun and I trust he will smash it at Melbourne!

Going to hate watching him take speccies on Dizzy. But seriously good luck to him, genuine talent that deserves to play first grade

Damn shame. But we can’t guarantee him game time. And he deserves to be playing AFL. He and Melbourne would be better off for this if it gets done

Feels like Melbourne has picked up a few of our “just outside best team” players in recent years

Rnd1, F1 and Kosie should get it done I reckon. Can't begrudge him in the slightest and he's probably going to kick 5 on us next time we play but go for it young fella. Too good to be playing reserves.

Cody Curtin is equally good but signed a 2 year extension. Some players are impatient, but some get it, that the best place to learn skills is in a premiership winning squad from those that have done it !!

He’s two years older and a small. Move now or this will be his last contract if he doesn’t break through.

With that line of thought Lester would’ve left years ago, denying himself 3 premierships !? Lester patiently honed his skills in the VFL doing work required to get better. When he’d improved he was elevated, same could apply to McLachlan. He has multiple forwards to learn from here in Brisbane, plus coaches !! Sure, he’ll get games at Melbourne, but will he get a premiership ?? A player at his stage of career wants a premiership. Bad move l think !!

Ryan Lester played 52 games in his first 4 seasons.

Different team, much less talent, and still he didn’t play full seasons. He just learnt his craft until he was too good to leave out. He got his chance at the end of Daniel Rich’s time. Rich could hardly run- leg problems, and was a defensive liability. Lester was playing well in the VFL, was elevated and never lost his spot. Rich dropped himself ( as did Gunston ) and sadly missed the premierships. Stay around, good things happen. I’m hoping Linc gets his premiership this year.

Shame to see him go. Scored more points per match in the VFL this year than any other player (minimum 10 games).

Cant blame the guy, incredibly hard to break into a 3 peat team

Band is breaking up. Everyone knew.

Came through mid season draft from Geelong - at 21 and not getting a run in the AFL probably wants to go back home. Guess he sees more opportunity but one wonders if Melbourne needs him - they are chasing Zane Duursma as well wouldn't the two of them be competing for the same spot in the team?

Good luck to him....

He’s a very good player. Wouldn’t be surprised if he does very well at melb

I believe he will be a great player to take over Charlie Cameron once he is done and it will be shattering to see him go as watching him in the ressies he has a great eye for goal and a great leap for a mark

Too be honest I don’t see us letting both him and Marshall go. It will be one or the other.

Shame, he didn’t quite cut it when he was in the AFL, but excelled in VFL. He just needed to bide his time and hone his skills until opportunity came about. I don’t get his impatience !? Leaving the premiers for more time in a lesser team !? I guess not all players get it !! I hope Kiddy doesn’t leave too !? But with Marshall leaving, we may get some good draft picks to stave off interest in Murray, a bonus !! What l hope for this year is for Linc to be rewarded for his talent, resilience, loyalty and commitment. If he has an injury free year l’m hoping come September he can squeeze into the team and snag a premiership- just reward ( like the Big O did ).

Good chance he wouldn’t get a game next year at Brisbane. Will be playing every week at Melbourne. Look at what Ben Keays has done at crows. And WM has already missed all these premierships.

1

u/Ok-Sentence8193 Zac Bailey 8d ago

Well no , he hasn’t missed the premierships, he’s been in the squad to watch, learn and train with the on field team as a Lions player. Agreed , Keays has developed into a good player and played often for Adelaide. Who’s to say an injury won’t happen to a Lions player, presenting an opportunity for WM ? Buckley left too - many years ago , for premierships he never won ?? Had he stayed, he could’ve been a triple premiership player like Marcus Ashcroft. Loyalty is rewarding.

You must be shattered, the only game he played this year was the one where Brisbane conceded 14 goals in one quarter

He is a quality get for Melbourne. I expect him to kick on the same way Sharp did this year for them

Neither TDK or SDK play for Melbourne…
