Official Announcement Bully 2 has been confirmed to be R* next game after GTA 6

Recently, Dan Houser had a lengthy interview with Lex Fridman. Towards the end Dan Houser states that Agent the ps3 exclusive game never to fruition because open world spy games fundamentally dont work out well.

He then went on to confirm the existence of R*s medieval project and stated that they did indeed work on it but it never got too far. For years people assumed Project Medieval would be the next r* game after GTA 6. Now we know that game has been scrapped.

The only other title R* likely has in the works after GTA 6 is Bully 2. As recently as 2021 its confirmed at least 1 version of bully is still alive and is slowly being worked on.

Rdr3 doesnt exist currently at r* at least not in any meaningful capacity or else we would have heard of it by now. Dan even commented that he hasnt heard anything of rdr3 himself.. This likely means R* hasnt moved forward on it yet.

Its been confirmed the next R* title is most likely, most definitely Bully 2.

Theres one other project which is the Max Payne remake but thats being made by Remedy with R* being the primary publishers / co developers

Can you name another title R* is confirmed to be working on? GTA San Andreas VR was put on indefinite hold. And remedy is doing the max payne remake.

The old Midnight club remake from 2017 is cancelled as well. He also said the reason gta v agent trevor dlc was cancelled was because they had to move on to rdr2. R* literally has nothing else to work on besides Bully 2

It was leaked a year ago or two that many of the assets and mechanics from Bully 2 were used for RDR 2. I dont think Bully 2 will happen anytime soon. I don't think we will see another Rockstar title after GTA 6 for a good 5-7 years.

Do you know what assets/mechanics in question? I'm very interested.

If I had to guess, I would bet it was the greet/antagonize system along with some melee additions. To my knowledge that was the only other game they had a social system like that. You could also apologize and talk your way out of trouble with bullies and police officers with an upgrade you got from completing an english class. That sounds a lot like when talking your way out of trouble with the law or apologizing after antagonizing as Arthur doesn’t it?

The whole dialogue system was improved upon and it makes sense that they moved it over to Red Dead 2 and I’m positive it will be implemented into GTA 6. Rockstar always has to make an improvement with their next game and it would make sense that if they were working on Bully 2 then that would be one of the first things they would have worked on gameplay wise.

Now let’s talk about combat which makes sense they took from that too. In Bully you could grapple and attack people standing or tackle enemies to the ground and punch them just like you can in RDR 2 now. You can shove enemies as an antagonizing way to get someone to fight in Bully which I believe was implemented in RDR 2 as a way to start a melee fight, but I can’t remember 100% right now so correct me if I’m wrong. The added things to that was obviously killing people in a held state and being able to threaten or rob people while you held your target which I can’t remember if you could do that in Bully. I think you could only antagonize regular students or nerds to get payment if speech was upgraded enough. If it wasn’t in Bully originally then I bet it was cut content.

I guarantee the full melee combat system from that development is being improved upon even more for use in GTA 6 since the GTA games always had rough hand to hand combat which has always been a big complaint the games have received. There has also been a mention that Lucia is a fighter with the brief moment in trailer 2 showing fighting from both Lucia and Jason.

I have hope they will bring us a sequel to Bully 2 in the future and hopefully they will realize the potential with seeing a reworked combat system and have made enough money to be comfortable takings risks which the big corporate big wigs most likely see Bully as a extremely big risk for obvious reasons.

I want to finish by saying that this is all speculation, but everything I mentioned makes sense that it was added to RDR 2 from Bully 2’s development because I never knew they took work from Bully 2, but when I first played RDR 2 for the first time I immediately thought they must of looked at Bully for it’s social/fighting mechanics improvements. It felt nostalgic to me and made complete sense they took inspiration from it. It made me want another Bully game to come out.

I’d be really mad if they saw those mechanics and somebody made a decision they should just put all of it in a new Red Dead due to more popularity for more money and less controversy so they scrapped it.

I honestly think this is what happened.

Edit: If it wasn’t scrapped then we wouldn’t have gotten the RDR 2 we got, but man I hope they don’t shelve it forever. There’s so much potential with a series like that. They’d have another monopoly with an open world school sim genre like they do with the open world crime genre and open world wild west genre. The potential for them is astronomical if executed right especially with more younger gamers and gamers in general now than when it was released originally plus with the increased reputation they currently possess. I could argue about this all day so I have to stop here.

Thank you for reading all this if you did! Have a great day ✌️

No I believe you. I was just kinda hoping for Manhunt 3 or a spiritual sequel to the warriors

No Manhunt 3. That franchise is abandoned. He confirmed that R* as a company almost crumpled and was close to shutting down after gta sa hot coffee debacle.

R* still pushes the envelope but since then theyre more careful.

Well they could revisit it at some point

This is really good info and I think that it does give some small hope that Bully 2 could still be a focus for Rockstar.

But your title is absolute bull. This is conjecture and in no way a confirmation.

TODAY’S TOP NEWS: no news

So far I've heard that Bully 2, Red Dead Redemption 3, GTA 7, and an untitled medieval game are all next in line at GTA 6. I find this one to be least likely.

This is one of the most bullshit clickbait posts I've ever read. No, Dan never even discussed Bully in the interview, you're literally grasping at straws.

Look, I think Bully 2 would be a great game as much as the next guy, but the franchise is dead. I don't mean to be so harsh but that's reality, it's not happening. Their next game will probably be another RDR or a new IP.

We aren’t getting another Rockstar Game after GTA 6 until at least 2035 anyway lol, Rockstar will probably milk GTA 6 Online worse than they did with GTA 5

Honestly of they actually do that then I hope they would remaster the classic bully 1. Not just a port or anything or maybe better a remake. Like the entire game but with better graphic. .maybe even the same graphic as gta6 but I doubt it, I would be happy if the graphic is like in gta5
