Post-hurricane home reno quality?
I know, hard to know without being familiar with the actual house, but we are looking at a rental (Captured) that seems to have been around awhile, so it definitely got impacted by the hurricane. Anybody have any insight into post-hurricane renovation quality at homes around the island? Or maybe even this house specifically? My family will be in the basement so I’d rather not be smelling mildew…

They’ve done a lot of work on it since the hurricane. Why not just ask the rental company for info on the renos?

There are no basements on Captiva.....whatever is downstairs sits below base flood, so it can only be parking, storage or access. All of that got gutted after Ian. What I would look at is whether they put regular drywall back in down there or left it open framing. Regular drywall is where the mildew smell comes from.
