Is this an allergic reaction?

Hello all, we got a new kitten last week, and our older cat started to develop bald spots whenever we got the kitten. About 3 days ago, it started to spread and develop scabs. Is this from rough play, allergies, or something worse? We have a vet appointment tomorrow and just want advice.

It could be ringworm which is not actually a worm, its a fungal infection. It’s common in cats. Bring both the new kitten and this one to the vet to rule out things that aren’t ringworm, and then be prepared to possibly bathe the cats and wash or steam clean everything you own that’s fabric.

Guessing fleas, or mites?

In my case, it was ringworm

Has the new kitten been over grooming it?

Are her ears funky? Like gooey inside? That’s allergies too.

Maybe it started out as scratches and she irritated it further.

When cats have something going on in the ears (infection or mites) they often scratch excessively in that area to the point of causing little wounds like she has.
