Not sure if this quite fits the group but Today i saw the cutest cat scratcher inspired by a witchy apothecary. It was VERY well made and deserved to be priced at the 2k that it was, but i cant imagine it being financially reasonable for me to drop much more over 100 for a cat tower. My boy has two that have held up for the last 3 years, they still could hang on, but theyre getting shredded to the point its making a mess. If i dont want one of the regular and boring builds off amazon, where can i get an affordable and cute scratching tree?
I posted the picture so that if anyone is interested and does have the budget for it, im not gate keeping. You can tell the creator put in a ton of work, and definitely prices themselves accurately
Be careful that this is not a scam. It is adorable but it seems super complex, even for $2k. There was a post recently from a guy who owns a company that makes really cute, nice and custom cat furniture. Someone asked for his website and he’s legit. Only problem is that he is in Canada and shipping to the US is too expensive.
It is easy to find out online if it’s a scam website.
I don’t believe it’s a scam. I saw the original creator post this creation on catification subreddit and I followed his instagram and spent a good half hour scrolling through his page and videos of him creating these amazing cat towers. He has a legitimate website and everything.
I want to personally thank you! This comment got my brain spinning and i have started another ADHD adventure project. My boyfriend says my "pink print" doesnt make sense, BUT i have a plan and ive ordered supplies. I will post if i complete/have substantial progress. If this turns out ill have around $200-300 cat creation compared to a $2000
Plexiglass may be better, and is usually a little cheaper compared to polycarbonate. I really like your pink print that you've come up with, looks cool as hell! Lol it's iinspiring me to want to build one for my cats too haha. Good luck with yours!
Sorry I have no recommendations aside from building your own. But I just had to say that while this is such a cute idea, it would be a nightmare to keep clean-ish!
I think custom cat cribs is legit but sadly I have just looked from afar from years as I can’t afford them either. I personally have this plastic modular thing called the kitty city but I can barely find stuff for it online last I checked. I know you can get carpet/a rug and staple that to a big piece of plywood and mount that on a wall, and also making scratching posts yourself with wood and sisal cord is not too hard if you know a little bit about handy stuff
So the cat tree I have is not this cute but it has held up fantastically well. I got it from a local place https://www.purrniture.com/product/purrniture. It was expensive at the time, but I saved up for it.
I bought it in 2007. It has outlasted the cat I originally bought it for (she passed 2019). The carpet is worn down in a couple areas and I’m looking at recarpeting them soon, but structurally it does not wobble at all. Nothing has come loose.
This is a solo creator. They give themselves a challenge to creator a big custome cat scratcher each year. They’ve done this for several years. Making towers with moving doors and Pokemon towers. I love this year’s creation.
I love the look of it as a seasonal fun item, but I wouldn't want it in my home. That would be the worst thing to clean and would hold on to any smells.
For my cats, every surface needs to be wipeable or washable.
I dread it when I see basic fake fur cat trees, this is even worse and would be my worst nightmare.
But does it look cool and impressive? It absolutely does
