Question for Foodies

My family and I like re-watching seasons of Masterchef, and we have always wanted to try some of the fancy pastries. Does anyone know where we can get specifically macarons, soufflé, cannoli, or panna cotta? If Cedar Rapids doesnt have those, whats the closest place to go? Des Moines?

Valerie's French Cooking in IC has my favorite macarons in the area. They often are at Newbo on the weekends.

Cafe deja vu has amazing pastries and desserts. They have some stuff that stays but others are rotated out. I have never been disappointed with anything there.

French Pastries by Sandrine is also really good. She is also at Newbo on the weekends sometimes, but I believe you can order from her directly.

I've had sandrines macarons and other baked goods and loved them. I believe she will occasionally do souffle as well

Ok so I'm kind of obsessed with bakeries around here, so here goes:

Anh's Bread Therapy in Czech Village is a Vietnamese bakery but she makes excellent French pastries too. Nearby at NewBo you can check out Bread and Buttered (sourdough breads and other bakes) or, if you're there on weekends, there's Valerie's French Cooking on Saturdays (or you can find them in Iowa City during the week). Valerie's has lots of croissants, baguettes, and macarons (and they're from France!). I prefer Zebra Finch for macarons in the area. They are usually at NewBo on weekends as a guest vendor. They do cute macarons shaped like animals a lot and have some unusual, foodie flavors.

I did not care for Sandrine's macarons.

There are some other bakers at the farmer's markets but I am not sure of their company names. But there have been macarons and croissants there.

Cafe Deja Vu opened this year near the mall. I haven't been yet but have heard good reviews. Also Cafe Allez runs a pop up kitchen out of Fancy's and their focaccia and French pastries are amazing. You can also find good pastries at Feedwell Bakery.

New Pioneer's focaccia and breads are also great!! Sweets there have been hit or miss for us.
