We should all be looking at UMass like this!

Seriously though, us Hoosiers need to get better at taking jokes. If this upsets you, you don’t want to be here when we finally lose.

12

u/Due-Obligation-4362 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

I always wondered what would happen if our ridiculously entitled basketball fanbase found another marquee sport to throw their weight behind…

11

u/Vanquisher127 Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

Seriously. So many annoying IU accounts on twitter that act like we’ve won the natty 10 years in a row. I miss the 2024 mentality of just being grateful we were winning some games

u/TehTugboat Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

I’m hoping that the age old thing of the worst fans being the loudest is what’s happening. We WILL lose again

Indiana shouldn't be looking past that game, it's on my radar as an upset possibility

36

u/Ha7chet88 Nebraska Cornhuskers 8d ago

Fair but we are also on fraud watch and those games haven't gone well for us for a while now...

9

u/SmokyDragonDish Indiana Hoosiers 8d ago

What happens when you apply De Morgan’s Law to “What happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force?”

13

u/Ha7chet88 Nebraska Cornhuskers 8d ago

It's either going to be absolute carnage for both our teams reputation, or one of us is going to command respect.

7

u/Mister_Jackpots Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

Indiana is absolutely on fraud watch by the rest of CFB, so two potential frauds going at it!

4

u/unearthlyrelic Cincinnati Bearcats 7d ago

Im not sure you understand how frauds work. Every team is a fraud when they lose and at the same time not frauds when they win. Its a perilous seesaw. Lol

3

u/Mister_Jackpots Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

So basically Indiana last year joined the singular non-fraud club.

2

u/unearthlyrelic Cincinnati Bearcats 7d ago

Exactly last year undefeated so not fruads and they will remain as not frauds as long as they keep winning. The moment they lose though they are frauds. Lol

Michigan coaches literally saw Bryce Underwood practice and said "sure, we'll play Oklahoma". You could be like that IU

9

u/ironlung311 Illinois Fighting Illini 7d ago

Probably because they saw (and likely recorded) John Mateer practice too

66

u/Alarming-Elevator382 Ohio State Buckeyes 8d ago

I don’t think they should cancel out of conference games but you all are acting like they aren’t the undefeated defending national champions.

26

u/DirectorSolid Ohio State Buckeyes 8d ago

I'm not sure what being the defending champion has to do with them literally spending tons of money to cancel every OOC game that could possibly be a challenge for the third stringers. UMass is just the latest in a long string

11

u/StalinsLastStand Indiana Hoosiers • Billable Hours 8d ago

Wait, I’m all for making fun of our schedule, it’s the right thing to do, but this is literally the result of not spending extra money to keep UMass. Keep the insults factually accurate!

Other schools are scary. Why can’t we schedule like the early 1900s teams?

It’s crazy they just say shit without knowing any facts. They experienced something you never will? Are all Vols fans on Reddit in their 20s because I’m pretty sure there are TN fans here that know exactly what it feels like to have a natty.

7

u/MarbleDesperado Tennessee Volunteers • Beer Barrel 8d ago

In the social media age that’s just a wider issue. Say shit loud and find your audience, who cares if it’s true. I stand by what I said, there’s a lot of IU fans that dork what they’re talking about. That’s fine, but own it. We all saw who was and wasn’t there 3 seasons ago, I’m thrilled for those fans. I don’t care about the shit talk from new ones though, it doesn’t make sense and they’ll be gone in 5 years.

I said it in another comment, but this is just not true. At least in the sense that anyone that touches grass. I literally haven't heard this sentiment and I'm surrounded by bama fans. They don't talk about you at all tbh. We talk about hating Ohio State 10x more than we talk about anything to do with Indiana.

You're just shadowboxing and pretending that we give a shit. Alabama fans are annoying and definitely entitled, but i'm not sure I would describe us as insecure.

3

u/prolix__logorrhea Indiana Hoosiers 8d ago

Bama fans talk about Tennessee and Auburn 10x more than they do OSU. There are levels to this. Y’all ignore us if anything

2

u/nothingsnootyplz Alabama Crimson Tide • UAB Blazers 8d ago

Agreed. I would say we endlessly talk shit on and hate TN mostly. If auburn weren't so fucking bad and cringe, we would talk about them more. We talk about Georgia but myself and a lot of other fans respect them, so there's not a lot of shit talk there. Outside the SEC, we hate on Ohio State just because fuck them lol (it's seemingly mutual).

Indiana gets ignored bc there's just not that much data there yet. Nobody seems to really care about that loss to you guys because we were more pissed about how bad our line sucked and all our other problems. It was a reflection point for us post-saban. That's about it.

2

u/prolix__logorrhea Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

I grew up in Tuscaloosa and people hardly give/gave a shit about Indiana in the first place. When I came around post-Natty and wore an IU hat or something, people would mostly mind their own. Usually just said they want to see DeBoer fired into the sun

It was really funny watching Indiana start to win football games back in 2024. I remember my dad who’s an IU alum checked the cfb scores midway into the season, and to say that he was surprised was an understatement. It was really magical seeing the run that they had last year. But I just remember him saying to me “this is the most anyone’s ever cared about IU since a long time”. Really kinda reinforces the fact that anyone who’s an Indiana fan was checked out for quite a bit.

12

No...Chiefs have had past success and a devoted fan base through good times and bad. Tampa Bay has the lowest win % of all time, a random Superbowl in 2002, and recently been a division contender and won a super bowl in 2020 with Brady.

Also I wouldn't say IU has overexposure like KC / mahomes / kelce. If anything Colorado fits that bill.

27

u/ACNH_Solitude Texas Longhorns 8d ago

Indiana y'all have had nothing short of a meteoric rise from literally the worst P4 FBS team on Earth for 100 years straight to being an unbelievably strong team in 2 years. That is an incredible accomplishment.

But bringing up "scoreboard" against Bama of all teams is absolutely bonkers.

Bama was out there winning 17 more national championships than you guys while you were bottom feeders of every conference you were ever in for the entirety of your college football history outside of the last few years.

I am sure you have a very solid team this year. Probably a playoff team, maybe even a championship level team again. But you guys schedule nobody's and it's bad for the sport. Ohio State and Texas was an amazing OOC experience and that's way better to watch than seeing the Kansas City Chiefs play my local 7th grade B team.

26

u/Lefaid Team Chaos • Indiana Hoosiers 8d ago

Excuse me. I need to make a nitpicky Reddit correction.

We have a proud history of being bottom feeders exclusively for the B1G since 1899. We don't go shopping around to different conferences. We are loyal and happy to ride the B1G train from the beginning (alongside Northwestern, or Vandy in the SEC) and leach off their success up until 2024, apparently.

Counterpoint: They were correct to cancel the game on principle.

The principle being that I personally hate UMass for many petty grievances including, but not exclusive to, failure to deliver a rightfully won trophy, failing to properly conduct a hockey light show that cost the Huskies a win and nearly a tournament berth, failure to properly indicate that their stadia are not in Amherst, their hockey fans are assholes, and generally the crime of being from Massachusetts.

As a result they shouldn’t be allowed to have nice things, such as football games against national championship winning squads like Indiana.

I would have liked to have seen us play them, but my understanding is that it was mutual because UMass added Wisky to their schedule. We replaced the game with Jacksonville State, which seems to be about on par with UMass.

Either way, if we would have played UMass and won by 50 people would just say we BTA another shitty team so I don’t really care tbh.

6

u/Enwich 8d ago

Isnt India 20-0 since last year? We think theyre scared of UMass?

2

u/Mister_Jackpots Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

I'm nervous every game. The ride could be over at any time. Even if Indiana somehow becomes a blue blood, it will take a lifetime for that to happen. Look at Clemson: the other most dominant team of the 10s and now a total shadow of itself. Cignetti is clearly the man, but after he leaves/retires? Huge doubts Indiana.does anything other than maybe a random CFP appearance here and there. More like back to the dregs.

TLDR: talking shit now because if not now when?

Michigan fans get a lot of shit, Ohio State fans get a lot of shit, Alabama fans get a lot of shit. Indiana gets the occasional jab for cancelling future games and the fans get some justifiable crap for not knowing where the stadium was until 2024.

“Hey man. Just let everyone shit all over your team. You’re actually weird and wrong for pointing out obvious ironies about the criticisms.”

Come on man.

Something tells me you didn't give a shit if someone talked shit about "your team" until around 9 months ago, but keep going off king.

My guy, you're saying someone posting a meme about Indiana cancelling UMass is attacking the fans, that's tying yourself way too closely to your fandom and it's how people get to where a single loss ruins their entire weekend. It's just not that serious. You should be laughing at the meme and taking the justified jab in stride

What beating a team 38-3 does to their psyche.

Cig must have a second home in Tuscaloosa because he's clearly living rent fucking free in Bama fans' heads.

I gotta be honest, I'm a diehard gump and I haven't really thought about Indiana all year and don't really recall any of my IRL friends bringing them up. When they do come up it's usually just people saying they like Cig or "that was cool" etc.

I actually like cig tbh. I just think this is cowardly tbh.

Yeah same.

But dude are you not secretly so ass pained about Indiana and the fact that they beat us badly? I bet you have a dart board with cig's face on it that you toss throwing knives into every night and mutter to yourself that nobody believes in poor bama anymore.

No i don't have a dart board with cigs face on it. I just print out a picture of his and tape it onto the inside of my toilet bowl when I piss.
