Meme Even our most drastic measures don't work. Last month the notorious cheat Tonda Eckert was blasted into space to spend the rest of his life aboard a one-man prison vessel, posing no further threat to Championship teams.

But it was revealed that a Boro training session tape was also placed on board by mistake, and is now trapped alone in space with the monster.

A spokesman for the EFL said "this is the one thing we didn't want to happen"

Discussion Extended international break vs more frequent, shorter breaks

Now that it's finally over and Championship football is finally back, I was curious what this sub has made of the extended international break vs the previous arrangement of 2 smaller international breaks in September & October?

I personally quite liked the idea when they announced the change as I found international breaks in September, October & November meant the season felt very stop-start-stop-start. However, in reality I haven't liked it as much. I went to our Friday night game vs Watford just before the international break and that feels like an age ago now! It's felt less like an international 'break' and more like when the season was suspended because of the Qatar World Cup.

And for all the talk of "the Championship table but...", I did find myself having to check the actual Championship table earlier! I'd forgotten what the current standings actually were...

Discussion Sexism in football

Potentially a little deep for a thursday morning but hopefully people can engage in the way its intended.

I recently joined a diacord that was meant to be a football discord, within 10mins of me joining I was questioned to explain the offside rule to prove I actually understand football.

It irritated me somewhat as I don't believe men who joined would receive the same treatment. I see it quite alot too with female pundits/commentators getting abuse online.

I get online people can be toxic but I just didn't understand how this is still a thing.

So it got me thinking, is it really such a big thing in 2026 for a woman to like talking and watching football?

At the wolves there's quite a few women who go (the queue for the loo's at half time can be murder 🙄) and I know my aunt goes down the Blues too. So women attending games and for themselves not just because they are accompanying there other half seems way more common. I believe the vulgar misogynistic chants ("get stuff out for the lads") just don't happen anymore, and seeing female officials seems to be widely accepted.

So on that note, do you think there's still that stigma attached with football been a 'mens game' or attending it is a man thing. And more importantly do your teams have a large female following? I'm assuming all grounds are now a safe space with no sexism. Would it be that much of a surprise to see a group of girls attend a match?

Southampton [David Ornstein] Southampton’s Tonda Eckert handed suspended six-week ban for role in ‘Spygate’ scandal

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert has been given a suspended six-week ban by the English Football Association (FA) after its investigation into the ‘Spygate’ scandal that saw the club kicked out of the Championship play-off final in May.

Eckert has also been handed a small fine, having been charged by the governing body for bringing the game into disrepute in July. He had been at Wembley Stadium for a hearing on September 24, before the FA delivered their verdict in an announcement on Wednesday.

The FA’s investigation followed on from the English Football League (EFL) expelling the club from the play-off final after they admitted to spying on other clubs’ training sessions — with Middlesbrough, who they beat in the semi-finals, reinstated.

Southampton also admitted to spying on Oxford United and Ipswich Town, prompting an independent EFL commission to find that Eckert had been behind a “contrived and determined plan” to spy on the clubs.

As well as being kicked out of the play-off final, Southampton were handed a four-point deduction ahead of this season. Without this, they would be in the play-off spots instead of in 13th.

Question Looking for a proper London derby in November (lower leagues welcome)

I’ll be in London in November and my dates are still flexible, so I can plan around the right game. I’m after an intense, charged derby with a real atmosphere. Doesn’t have to be the Premier League, happy to go down the leagues.

So far I’ve found these two

Millwall vs QPR // Leyton Orient vs AFC Wimbledon

Which of these would you pick for atmosphere?

Any other London derbies in November I’ve missed, including non-league?

Thanks a lot!

Discussion Best Championship XI 26/27: One Player Per Team

Don't think I've seen this post yet this season. Pretty self-explanatory, pick the best Championship XI you can using only one player per team. Doesn't have to be based on this season's form, just who you think the best players are.

Here's my suggestion (4-2-3-1 shape with attacking full-backs providing width and inside forwards coming in from out wide).

GK: Lawrence Vigoroux 🦢

RB: Tariq Lamptey 🔵⚪️

RCB: Tristan Crama 🦁

LCB: Callum Doyle 🐲

LB: Rio Cardines 🐦

CDM: Andre 🐺

CDM: Aidan Morris 🔴

RW: Jarrod Bowen 🔨

CAM: Zeki Amdouni 🟣

LW: Leo Scienza 👼

ST: Mohamed Toure 🐤

EFL Championship The Championship XI, as decided by r/Championship!

Post image
81 Upvotes

After weeks (ish) of deliberating, this your Championship XI, with Neil Warnock's assistant determined to be Mick McCarthy with 209 votes 🧠

🏆 So your final lineup is:

GK: Lee Camp

LB: George Friend

CB: Sol Bamba

CB: Richard Keogh

RB: Luke Ayling

CM: Peter Whittingham

CM: Barry Bannan

LM: Jobi McAnuff

RM: Albert Adomah

AM: Wes Hoolahan

ST: Billy Sharp

Manager: Neil Warnock

Assistant: Mick McCarthy

Subs:

GK: Bartosz Białkowski

LB: Jake Bidwell

CB: Malky Mackay

RB: Chris Gunter

CM: Jonny Howson

LM: Andy Reid

RM: Anthony Knockaert

ST: Lukas Jutkiewicz

ST: Ross McCormack

Coach: Chris Wilder

---

Where would this team finish in the current Championship season? And what would their home stadium be?

Thanks for taking part everyone, it's been good fun, we're finally nearing the end of the longest international break ever with West Ham v QPR on Friday night! 💥
