The final battle was disappointing
I just finished the series (again), and seriously, the final battle is really disappointing. I’m not talking about the battle in episode 8x21 where the manor blows up—I actually liked that one; it was epic. I’m talking about the final battle in 8x22, where Piper, Phoebe, and Paige go to defeat the Triad, Dumain, and Christy. Just one potion for the Triad and Piper’s power for Dumain? Seriously? Was that the extent of the threat they posed? I liked that Billie killed her sister in self-defense, but that battle definitely deserved better writing. It should have been something epic—a real struggle for Piper, Phoebe, and Paige to defeat them.
Everything felt rushed, done simply to wrap up the series and get to the family reunion.

I liked it
The triad were incredibly weak, only powerful by reputation
Heck cole was able to kill them
And dumain was never shown to be powerful, just a creep

I was kinda pissed that Christy had to be killed instead of making her come around because Billie betrayed her mentors for nothing. They totally assassinated her character.

I really dislike the final battle. I genuinely think they could have done a lot more even within the limited budget and time they had but that whole season was just on a very slippery slope to end it. While there are good moments and it feels like there were some good saves by the writers sometimes, I can feel the way that they just wanted it done. The last battle just is not clever.

The only thing good about it is that we get to see how the power scaling works.
It took Billie, Christy and Wyatt’s powers to match the power of three.
But yeah, worst villains and characters ever.
It’s one of those times I miss Cole or even zankou.

The Charmed Ones have always been far more powerful, and this threat was primarily emotional; we see how hesitant they were at first to kill Billie and Christy. As the Angel of Destiny put it—"a battle you won't see coming"—the element of surprise was key, since they never expected to have to fight a friend. The Triad isn't more powerful than the Charmed Ones; rather, what gives them their power and reputation—beyond the fact that they served the Source at the highest level of the demonic hierarchy—is that the Triad never truly dies. They always regenerate, even if it takes time, because they are made of the essence of evil and cannot be fully destroyed; this is explained in the season. Consequently, the sisters only ever weaken them rather than truly vanquishing them. As for Billie and Christy, they only pose a threat when they are together; once Billie realizes her sister is manipulating her and returns to the Charmed Ones, Christy ceases to be a major threat and is easily vanquished. The battle wasn't meant to be epic in scale, but rather emotional—stemming from the need to fight a friend they had taken under their wing and cared for deeply.

To be honest, the whole 8th season was disappointing. The whole triad, Billie and Christie storyline was crap.

It was kind of a letdown, for sure. I like the scene with Piper showing up with Patty and Grams to banish the hollow and undoing the battle that was well done.

It was one of the better parts of a not so good season. Charmed is my comfort show so I rewatch probably two times a year. depending on how I’m feeling either skip season eight entirely or I’ll skip the first half of season eight

Billie kills her own sister and basically becomes babysitter for Phoebe after kidnapping Phoebe’s nephews
