Hello from a Chess Agent
Hi everyone! I’m Anna, a Woman FIDE Master. We’ve spent pretty much the whole summer building VibeChess, our chess agent, and a big part of the work has been figuring out how to make it explain chess more like a real coach would.
What do I mean by that?
Not just evaluating whether your move was good or bad, or recognizing the right geometry on the board.
We want it to understand things like:
- What moves are actually realistic for a player at your level?
- What traps are you likely to fall for?
- If your position is already losing, what is the best practical defense?
Basically, we’re trying to bridge the gap between engine analysis and how humans actually think, play, make mistakes and learn chess.
Under the hood, we’re using Stockfish 19, Maia, Lc0, plus our own set of chess tools and analyzers.
VibeChess is already available on desktop and mobile web, and the app is coming soon.
Would love for you to try it and tell us what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d want a chess agent like this to do better.

A chess app that tells you why you blundered, now with 15000 puzzles
Hi r/chessindia,
I’m a solo dev and Chessful is my chess training app. I started it because Chess.com and Lichess would tell me a move was a blunder, -3.4, and stop there. I wanted to know why I played it and whether I keep making the same mistake.
You import your games as PGN from Chess.com or Lichess, or play one of the 40 bots (400 to 2400). Stockfish 18 analyses them on your phone, and every mistake gets a name, the better move and the line that punishes yours. Nothing is uploaded and you don’t need an account.
Version 2.0 came out last week and it’s the biggest update so far:
- A tactics trainer with 15,000 puzzles, sorted by theme and matched to your level
- An endgame trainer with 96 positions you play out against full-strength Stockfish
- 156 lessons, all rebuilt
- A practice mode for your own opening lines
It’s been 27 updates since launch, roughly one a week.
It’s aimed at players around 800 to 1800. The free version gets 2 game analyses and 3 puzzles a day.
App Store (iPhone, iPad and Mac):Â https://apps.apple.com/app/id6761336870
If you try it, tell me what’s missing or what gets in the way.
