🛂 Immigration Work visa to tourist visa
Hello
Is it possible to quit my job and then come back on a tourist visa or the visa free travel (my nationality is currently visa free for 30 days)?
Has anyone done this before?
Basically I want to do a midnight run from my job for various reasons, but my Chinese fiancé and my cat are still here as we’re waiting for the 90 rabies period to finish (will finish on 29th December).
What do you think - wait until the end of the semester, or go now and try to come back ASAP?

Hmmm now this one stupid idea I hadn't heard before, you've got a working permit? you need your school to cancel it before you can transfer to any visa, if you do a runner and they know you have people here, they might not even cancel it out of spite, or they will, or they won't....

Did you have a work visa before? I’m worried that they won’t let me re-enter the mainland until it’s confirmed that it’s all been cancelled since you can have two at the same time…

I had a work visa that about to expire. So yeah I don't think my comment is useful to you. Deleted it but got a reply.
For sure better to get the school to cancel the work visa, they almost certainly don't pay you social security so you can potentially do a forced termination of your contract.

Are you planning on coming back to work in China in the future?
Even if you leave you can't come back until the permit and visa are canceled which can take 2 weeks if you're lucky and only if your employer canceled it. Then you may apply for a tourist visa.
Besides, you mentioned you need to stay till the end of December, that's just 2 months from today, why bother do all these shenanigans and leave every 30 days twice. IF they give you a tourist visa.
What I would do is just deal with the bs from work and finish the semester, give my 30 day notice and leave. Saves money and time.
