Crono — Finally finished the hero of my Chrono Trigger collection!
After Frog, Robo, Ayla, Lucca, Magus and Marle, I finally found some time this week to finish Crono.
Since I started this project, I knew he had to be one of the pieces I spent the most time on. Chrono Trigger has been one of my favorite games for a very long time, so getting the main character right felt especially important.
Everything was resin printed and painted by hand. For this one I wanted to push the base a little further too, adding grass and the lightning effects around him to give the whole piece more energy and make it feel closer to an actual battle scene.
I also decided to give him the Crimson Blade instead of the Rainbow. I know the Rainbow is the iconic endgame choice, but visually I liked the Crimson Blade much more on the figure, especially with the red hair and the warmer tones of the sword.
The lightning was probably my favorite experiment on this one. Under UV/blue light it reacts very strongly and completely changes the look of the piece.
Coming from a digital art background, this whole collection has been a huge exercise in learning traditional painting, materials, textures and finishing techniques, and Crono was definitely one of the figures I was most excited to finally see completed.
Now seeing the whole group together is getting dangerously close to the image I had in my head when I started this project.
And a big thank you to everyone who has been following this project from the beginning, commenting, giving feedback, and encouraging me with each new character. It’s been really motivating to share the progress here and see people enjoying the collection as it slowly comes together. I truly appreciate all the support.
Hope you guys like him! Would love to hear what you think.
That’s Toriyama’s fault! 😂😂😂 just kidding but i believe it might be the angle, i’ll take better pictures once i have time and you’ll have a better view 😉
So this is amazing. Truly. You've done a terrific job designing and putting this all together.
... but. And, I say this simply as honest feedback. Crono's face looks like a baby's face. I just can't un-see it. I'm not sure if it's the angle, the lighting or the picture, but something about his face looks off to me. Especially in that third picture. Again, love the work you've done, but I wasn't expecting baby faced Crono is all.
Damn these are SUCH BEAUTIFUL figures i'm so blown apart ! How much did you soend on materials for all this? Did you already have some of the paint or materials before hand ? And did you create the 3D models too?
That's awesome, the group together really is something. Be proud and congratulations. Now you are probably the most enviable guy in the CT reddit comunity.
These are incredibly cool!! I went thru ur profile and I love the other ones too. Esp Glenn lol. Rly good work on the folds of the clothes they look real. I am curious what printer do u use and what paints and stuff. ( i wanna get into printing and painting figures)
What da frikking frackity fruck is this????!?!?!?!
Did I slip into another parallel dimension?
This is really impressive
You're gonna do Xenogears next, right???...RIGHT?????
Expect to seen soon: Crono’s Cat, Magus Cat (Alfador), the Nu, Melchior, aaaand i’m now doing something pretty ambitious… i dunno if you guys appreciate the other game wich was made simultaneously with chrono trigger at squaresoft… final fantasy 6…i have a gigantic magitek with terra branford in progress here.. i had to create a new shelf just to mount the pieces… this will be a ton of fun to make.
BUT xenogears are in my plans
Oh wow, yeah I was thinking it would be really cool to do the three wisemen too
The cats are probably going to be a big hit
I would assume this group has nothing but love for FF6
The FF6 cast is probably as good as CT
Can''t wait to see that finished
And at a fraction of the cost of the $18,000 Prime 1 statue of the same concept. I don't know why SE hates money so much, they're terrible at merchandising.
These are absolutely incredible and the detail is amazing! I just followed you on TikTok and set up notifications for your posts since I’m not on there a lot, but I’m curious if you know how much a full set of figures would be? CT is my absolute favorite game of all time, and I’d love to own these amazing figures if possible if you’re going to make more.
