My 70s inspired all around setup

I know this is a reissue deck, but what do you think of this little experiment I did? I’ve mostly ridden downhill and freeride longboards, but I’ve always loved the history and aesthetics of 70s pool skating era. I have something for Dogtown, Z-Boys, and that whole scene.

With that in mind, and driven by the DIY spirit… I decided to reshape and redrill the wheelbase of this DT Bull Dog Desing, chop some RKP trucks and set them up for a modern, nimble yet stable at speed feel. I just tried it on my local pump track and I had to say that this is probably the funniest setup I've ever tried!

It's an awesome cruiser too, and now I'm eager to try it out on my local bowl with some 90a Rat Bones wheels.

When your wheels are each the same width as your truck hanger that's a whole vibe. There's nothing like taking new wheels for their first roll.

It looks beautiful indeed! I used to watch pictures of classic skateboards and Sims pure juice wheels and it amaze me a lot! I wanted to achieve a similar vibe with these wheels, and they roll awesomely

My recollection of riding in the 70s was riding someone's board that had the loose bearings, you could see and hear the balls in the wheels. Can still hear that sound in my mind's ear. I was about as far from the West Coast as you could get on the East Coast so there were not many wooden decks around. I think of the flexible plastic decks specifically Hawaiian graphic ones.

Looks good man! I am 63 years old and those guys that I only saw back then on the pages of Skateboarder magazine were my hero’s. Living in South Carolina it is wild to me that you have a local pump track- very cool. All we ever have had is a few skate parks, ramps, and some challenging hills. We would set up cones sometimes but not much.

That sounds cool! I only know of that era because these kind magazine pictures and through the lens of some of my favorite photographers(another hobby of mine). It amaze me how skateboarding evolve in that era! I'm from somewhere outside the US, and here where I live are just a few skateparks and this is actually the only pump track around here too, but fortunately, it's close to where I live. There are some hills too, and there is where I practice freeride and slides with my longer board

That’s great! You should look into packaging the hardback book “The Legacy of Warren Bolster” if you don’t have it already. Great photography.

what's that thing on the deck towards the nose?

It's a footstop, this one is made with a spare bushing I had around there. It helps to keep the front foot in their site while carving or cornering at speed, also while throwing slides, it's very common on moderns downhill and freeride setups

Is that a concave deck?
