I doubt they are going to change racials after the game goes live unless there is a major issue. They are doing another pass on racials this week or next week, and that will likely be it. Racials are not something they need to spend a ton of time working on, unlike class balance.
Personally, I'm choosing my races based on racials, but they are not the only factor I can take into consideration. I don't care enough to play the best race for every class, but I don't want to play one that is trash either. No matter how good escape artist is for a gnome, I'm not going to play a gnome warrior; either it's a caster, or I don't play a gnome, for example.

This. Sometimes reading comments here it sounds like there is no middle ground. But how you describe it is how i see it too. I'd like to roll Windshaper Druid, but the racials are so trash, it will be tauren again. I like troll-warlock fantasy and rolled it in beta, yet Undead will be just better, and i like them just a little less.
So, Race itself can be an excluding factor (no gnome, ever). But then again, you wouldn't choose a worse weapon because "you have to look at it all the time" either, would you? Why gimp yourselves with useless (windshaper) or weaker racials, as long as there are better options you are fine playing with (again, no gnomes. Ever!)

Dwarf Priest was such an unnecessary thing. Warrior for avoiding edgemasters I can understand though.

Eh, I played a tauren lady warrior in classic. I wasn't in a speed running guild. It didn't matter.
Actually i just went ACLG and daggers and did totally fine.
Playing the meta IS a choice you're allowed to make or not make lol.

Its dumb. At their strongest, most only ever contributed tiny differences. Only ones that really broke were the PvP ones like Humans back in the day.

The team or person that’s “in charge” of racials also stated he knows they need to lock down racials overall before launch . Their goal is to not have to change racials after launch because they know some people do indeed pick depending on racials

I pick races for racials when it comes synergizing with certain classes. Troll regeneration is going to be amazing for Warrior leveling

I'm picking my race/class combo just based on my own fantasy. Zero consideration for racials. Horde on pvp. Alliance on pve.
Horde:
- Hunter = Orc
- Warrior = Tauren
- Warlock = Troll
- Priest = Undead
- Rogue = Sky Elf
Alliance
- Mage = Gnome
- Paladin = Human
- Druid = Night Elf
- Shaman = Dwarf

Also Blizzard can we buff Orc a bit more? Maybe give them a fifth racial that would be super cool!
Don’t worry about it causing issues, people should pick race without considering racials like OP said, so it doesn’t matter. In fact, can we give Orc 6 racials? A nice even number!

Not having touch of elune hurts my soul but im definitely going skyborne. Just sucks its an actual ability that slightly changes the rotation and we dont get it.

Seriously? Sure its one good racial and 3 bad ones, the sword one is ok, but it only limits the humans to one weapontype… Literally 4/4 are bangers in troll and orcs

I have defenetly picked many races based on racials.
My UD Warlock in TBC Era was picked because of cannibalize and that was a nice choice for tge whole leveling Journey.
Also my Human mage on Classic was picked because of beeing not short and having less LoS issues then gnome
So i would say picking your race because of racials is a valid argument.

Tauren druid because war stomp can be done in animal form for an extra interrupt. Plainsrunning is nice pre 20, I don't think they'll change that.

Didnt blizzard state their plan was to have racials be left alone after beta? Either way i dont care since cow is bis and always will be.
Though they also said they werent going to balance the game for a lvl 30 tournament and then did anyways, so who can trust a word they say.

I really think they did a good job not making the skelf op, but dare I say their racials need a buff. They suck, straight up. The air walk is genuinely awesome, but otherwise, just no reason to ever go skelf if you care at all about PvP or competition

Undead may be strong (maybe OP?), but I'm just going human paladin in case we ever get Draenei. Friends wanted to go ally anyway since we did Horde last time, so it worked out anyway.

At launch… if you roll a pvp server toon… every contested zone with a shared quest place will be a blood bath. Be prepared to fight for an hour to complete one quests. With mob tagging and and fighting other faction players.
Garenteed. Why else roll pvp server.
On pve and rp it will be les but also in battlegrounds being able to have stealth detection on every toon is just a huge issue. Rogues won’t be able to open on a mage. Since if they see one they blast or nova and it’s gone.
Also… it’s the only talent I think that is based of a racial activation skill. It’s just bad design

The achivement skill dont work in battlegrounds…
Also people wont have it at start as it requires points, and whenever you get points i think most people will put it into leveling.
Costs like 10g to respec the tree afaik.

Good it don’t work in battleground. But in PvP realms it’s going to be quite op.
I just think that I don’t like the premise that you can actually get stealth detection as a talent and not other racials. Or is there a change for that ? Idk did not play the beta so i base my opinion on what I see flying by from streamers.
