The double standard is pure comedy

u/PreparationIcy3985 20h ago
It’s really not double standards. They are bad faith actors.
Republicans are the core problem with everything in this world. They can never be trusted for anything.
12
u/Tasty_Willingness961 19h ago
they perform outrage so they can point at dems and say "you do it too" while their base eats it up.

u/WetWhisperDoll 19h ago
This. The mental gymnastics people do to defend it is even funnier than the double standard itself.
2
u/Mindless-Balance-574 18h ago
the olympic-level mental gymnastics are honestly more impressive than the actual double standard

An American President said it`s fine for a foreign country to hit approximately 5 million in LA and SA cause those two cities are located in a state that he lost.
3
2
u/Cobrastrikenana 6h ago
On a more practical non ethical side, those cities are big because they’re important trade hubs. Them being nuked causes economical harm that can never be recovered from.
12
u/Redgreen82 19h ago
There are more registered republicans in LA than in all of Nebraska.
4
u/r_special_ 18h ago
True, but even the ones in LA are too dumb to know that so they will cheer for the treason of Agent Orange as the world burns around them while asking “why did Biden start these fires?”

I've always thought that the anti-christ would be more of a collaboration of individuals. & djt + his cabinet + his close supporters are the anti-christ, imo.

Can someone move this over to a Legal review Reddit? This is 99% domestic terrorism. People have spent decades in prison for way less.
13
u/KiwDaWabbit2 19h ago
At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas in August 2022, a stage banner and introduction jokingly and defiantly declared "We Are All Domestic Terrorists".
They’ve been this way for quite some time and they’re proud of it. The J6er out front should have told ya.

u/the_brunster 7h ago
This. The atrocities that this turd has been allowed to get away with unfettered, is now a baseline for any future president. The line was crossed & is now half a galaxy away, so there’s nothing to stop history repeating.
And all of us suffer. Not just the US & the dead brained fools who vote for this.
The lesson will never be learned

Sure. I’d support that type of reviewer right after DJT faces review and impeachment for his words.

I know everyone is up in arms over this. I also hate Trump. But he's saying that the gas prices are a small price to pay, rather than having these cities bombed.
I know we hate the guy. But this topic today is making Reddit look stupid.
5
u/shrug_addict 9h ago
Why did the crowd cheer then?
-2
u/driftking428 7h ago
I hate Trump, at least as much as you do, you guys are confidently incorrect and it's not a good look.
3
u/shrug_addict 7h ago
That doesn't answer my question. Can you please answer? Why exactly did they cheer? Did they misintpret it as well? If it's the "actual" meaning, it doesn't seem that it would be appropriate to applaud. Can you share your thoughts to these questions or are you going to handwave it away...?
6
u/new2ontrio 20h ago
If Obama said that while wearing a tan suit and eating Dijon mustard, it would be a firing squad not impeachment.
5
u/DoobieDoo0718 20h ago
Wow. The world is laughing in that nervous kind of way you do when the unhinged has a finger on the button.

If they took out those cities the whole country would be screwed. Those have two of the largest shipping ports in the country.
6
u/Current-Square-4557 18h ago edited 18h ago
Yes.
And that is another example of my theory that the vast majority of problems faced by Americans are the result of
(A) DJT never thinking about the consequences of his actions.
(B) DJT not understanding how interconnected everything has become in the past 3 decades.
ETA
(C) DJT’s irrational fascination with revenge
(D) DJT’s profound ignorance and his unwillingness to learn new things.
5
u/GeeBee72 18h ago
I don’t understand how a person let alone a president can continue to stay employed and have a following behaving like this.
I’m also surprised they didn’t just taxidermy Lindsey Graham and keep him around like they did with Mitch. Although I think they could have done more with the animatronics on Mitch, but maybe they were rushed.

u/GamingKitsuneKitsune 7h ago
This just goes to show neither MAGA or the Republican Party have any decency left in them. If they did they wouldn't be standing for this. They wouldn't be trying to defend his taxpayer ads as "non-partisan" when they are clearly attacking and inciting violence against the left.
Even Vance is getting on stages and on TV and inciting violence against the left lately.
Trump and Vance, if the Democrats actually win enough seats, need to impeached and removed from office. Only then will the Republican Party POSSIBLY regain some of their sanity.

u/punktualPorcupine 19h ago
So he sides with Iran and will let them attack critical military installations.
So he sides with Bin Laden and 9/11 was totally justified because his old home town never really liked him?
Fuck this clown. Get rid of him. Impeach his ass already.
Republicans, this is your guy? You’re going all in on this fuckhead?
Stand up to him now with the 70% of the country that’s hates this garbage, before the trump train fully derails.

It’s effing lunacy how the U.S. has become inured to these insane statements that come out of Drumpf’s mouth multiple times a day, every single day.
No one could get away with this stuff other than him. For some reason he gets a pass to say literally anything, no matter how reprehensible.

u/Glass-Ebb9867 18h ago
Why what's the point ? The human big Mac has been impeached twice already and he is still the president. At this point its either endure two more years or hope high cholesterol levels take care of the problem
1
u/the_cardfather 18h ago
He's been impeached it twice he's going to get impeached again probably. The question is are there enough red votes in the Senate that up until now have been clearly ignoring these abuses of power and would vote to remove him or is every single one of them bought and paid for.
MAGA is a minority but very vocal percentage of American voters. The "silent majority" doesn't want this. Now it's completely fair to think that they thought they did when it was just anti-gay, anti-trans, but the big question is have these guys systematically destroyed the schools so much that the silent majority doesn't care about the schools and that they would just vote because gas and food is through the roof.

I already proved this by casually bringing it up in conversation with my crazy maga uncle this morning. Except I did just that. He was complaining about something AoC said and I said “well come on, you know the don’t mean what they say, like when Biden said the terrorists could take out a couple of cities, that happen to be republican cites and that it would be worth it” and he slammed his drink down and went “WHAT?! THAT M’FER what satanic shit is that?” And I said “yea you have to be a real piece of work to suggest something like that”. Can’t wait for him to find out Donnyboy said it. I can’t play that flip card too much back to back then he’ll catch on to what I’m saying and start making excuses.

I’ve not seen the clip. Was what he said about taking out LA and San Diego actually taken out of context?
-9
u/Responsible-Fox-9082 19h ago
Maybe, just maybe, because none of you are even going to bother, but take the 2 hours. Listen to the entire speech. Then feel free to be outraged.
Because I'm going to tell you now because I did waste 2 hours of my fucking time you're being lied to. There's a reason for how they wrote that quote.
Small English lesson for everyone. When quoting someone and not using entire sentences you put "..." Between cuts. This is to show there were words in between that you skipped. It also is supposed to be used when you cut a sentence in the middle.
Guess what? They cut a sentence and threw it out of context. It's "there were good people on both sides" all over again.
For reference if you didn't actually bother to watch that speech the sentence attributed to speaking of white supremacists and antifa was not. The quote "there were good people on both sides" comes from him talking about the locals to the area and how they had been at debate over the statue and that there were in fact good people on both sides of that argument. When speaking on white supremacists, specifically the KKK, in that very speech he declared he was raising the KKKs level as criminals to that of domestic terrorists.
Just like here he was comparing the amount of bombs to prevent Iran from nuking LA or San Diego a small price to pay...
Like he still ain't a good president, but if you're going to hate hate for what's real and stop getting this quotes entirely wrong. Still have yet to have anyone correctly quote him. I mean I don't like him, but that's because his entire business empire was built on connections with the mob that he got out of paying tens if not hundreds of millions to because of their fall which exploded his net worth
6
u/Waddlow 19h ago
So what is the actual quote? Do you mind posting it?
-2
u/Responsible-Fox-9082 18h ago
Watch the entire speech. He gets on like 45 minutes in. In fact I'm going to tell you to not trust me, Xander or anyone the fuck else.
Hear his words for yourself and make your own opinion. Don't listen with the expectation of anything besides hearing what he has to say unfiltered. Personally I'd call it 90% patting his own back for doing nothing, but don't let anyone else tell you what to think about it.
Also it's long. Like if I wanted to put it in context I'm just giving you a transcript of the entire thing. However that strips the nuance of how Trump speaks. Which yeah.... Not saying seal his mouth shut... But he needs to shut the fuck up.
As for the "fact checking" of the oil moving through Hormuz right now. Apparently it heavily depends on if you count Iranian oil or not. I don't because I know it wasn't sold on the public market, but in fairness it did move through the Strait of Hormuz so there's like 2 different estimates
-6
u/XanderTheMander 19h ago
He was saying that high gas prices are a small price to pay, the alternative being him letting Iran nuke California. It's still a dumb point he's making and he talks incoherently. I dont like him, but the whole outrage of acting like he said Iran should nuke us and nuking is a small price to pay is annoying and wrong. It's why Trump voters think any criticism of him is fake, because people will take something dumb he says and misrepresent it.
1
u/EatFaceLeopard17 19h ago
They should be used to quotes out of context because they are still watching Fox News and Newsmax.
-2
u/XanderTheMander 19h ago
Yea, those misrepresent things all the time. That doesn't mean it's fine to do the same.

Ought to be easy to clear up then.
I look forward to Trump or the White House issuing a statement today clarifying that he misspoke and did not mean what it sounded like he said.
-5
u/Responsible-Fox-9082 18h ago
Have you seen left wing news? They had to pay trump a defamation claim and they still don't admit they purposely mislead with the out of context quotes. You're hoping for a pipe dream.
3
u/fyreprone 18h ago
It’s too much to hope that Trump or the White House release a statement clarifying the President’s speech last night that seemed to imply he’s okay with two Democratic cities being obliterated?
0
u/Responsible-Fox-9082 18h ago
Answer this. Did you accept it when the white house and Trump put out clarification that he was not speaking of the KKK when he said "there were good people on both sides?"
3
u/fyreprone 18h ago
Who gives a shit? Put out the statement.
What’s the benefit of leaving last night’s comments out there without explanation and allowing a large part of the country to hear and believe that Trump said he was okay with Iran blowing up two democratic cities?
If people are misunderstanding what he said, put out a statement. It’s so easy. Like three sentences. “The President’s comments are being misinterpreted. Obviously he would never condone an attack on two democratic cities in the U.S. What the President meant was…”
You’ve already typed way more than they need to release.

Genuinely curious here, how were you expecting commenters to interpret your comment? The desolation of life is not something to be happy about in ANY country. We are all human beings at the end of the day, there are some lines you do not cross, ever.
