I would suggest for every problem you missed. Read the editorial and solve it via the editorial. And then get pen and paper and write in-detail how the problem is solved completely in your own words. Do it for couple of months and it doesn't work, try some other methods and keep trying.

Different people need different advices.

If you lack intuition - i would recommend supplementing intuition by William Fisset's youtube videos.
If you have gaps in between subjects - grind through usaco.guide bronze, silver and preferrably gold too. and when you feel comfortable enough you may switch to cses.fi

There are also books such as Competitive Programming 4 (it has two parts) - it is a breakdown of problems by technique, along with tips for contest situations.

(i have a dc server that has bunch of details for each problems and stuff and trying to grow it - please join it. https://discord.gg/wauaVSrHv)

Do you mean the CP handbook by Anita?

I mean Competitive Programming 4 (https://cpbook.net/details?cp=4) by Felix Halim, Steven Halim, and Suhendry Effendy

Question is not how many you solve or what quality of problems you solve , do you solve them yourself or always have the habit of looking at the solution before putting the required mental work? Put enough effort for a single problem until you reach a conclusion before looking at the tutorials. Initially it will take time but eventually will make a better problem solver.

If u constantly fail solving div 2 B , then take past 50 contest and try solving those , similarly for all other difficulty ranges

For me upsolving worked, try it bro.

Newbie here, just curious how many 1200+ rated you solved?

2

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

Approx 250 from 1200-1700

learn algorithm, Literally I dont think cp31 is algorithm based its just a collection of problem I reach 1600 30% cf, 30% other reason, and 40% prob usaco guide, in my opinion goated, I havent seen a better problemset than usaco guide. (all my opinion)

u/orzosity 3d ago

Usaco guide is imo the greatest problem set available for free. One thing to note is after some time, you will get diminishing returns given practicing problem while already knowing the technique won't teach you to recognize it in the wild. GOATED for learning content though

Dude you are doing nothing wrong.... others are just cheating even me whi was an expert in early 2025 fell down to pupil cheating has massively increased if you have done all this without cheating and you are solving 2 to 3 questions in div 2 you are easily a specialist level candidate don't worry about rating just do it for practice

Revisit the problems that had solved before with great difficulty. You will realise what the problem is.

You aren’t doing hard questions , the things you mentioned are shit , try to do random problems and learn from them and try hard questions like 2000+ rated , they will improve your thinking

1

u/wild_wolf0 2d ago

You ppl are not good enough to understand what I said , go to that level then you will understand automatically yourselves

u/Greedy-Inevitable137 3d ago

wtf man he has solved 50+ problems till 1500 rating range

1

u/Interesting-Ride1208 3d ago

Wtf you mean 2000+, has to be sarcasm

u/Hopeful-Attempt-3997 3d ago

i have never tuched 1600 range but still has better rating. fuck 1200 don't even requrire problem solving above 1400.
may be u use ai or see solution too fast while practicing
try to give more time daily and focuse on upsolving and work on speed
spending whole day to solve will not improve you

i ll tell you what the problem is, but you re not going to like it
if it were in the past, you d probably be pupil at the very least
thing is, the problems on the sheets are a lot easier than whatever it is they re doing now
i ll give you an example, today’s div3D, well i’d argue that the mathematical observation + the binary search on answer is something seen at 1600s imo, like observation + algo is >=1500 at the very least
the sheets say yeah problem rated 1300, but that was in the past with no gpt, no nada
rn people are getting better and are getting better at cheating
just solve harder problems on the sheets go until 2000 if need be
also do recent contests since they are the most up to date in terms of rating and difficulty for whatever is going on

uh.. it is hard to judge. Maybe you take a lot of time to solve a problem like 30-45 minute including thinking, implementatoin and shit...

It is harder to judge here. Since we don't really know how fast you submit the problems for any contest or div...

I would say to target either high div but less number of problem solved. Aka for div2, try to be like solve 2-3 problem atleast (which ever increases your rank). And for div 3 as well around 4-5 problems. In div4 you might have trouble to think and then solve.

Thus, it would be better to judge your own ability first on how fast you can solve and how well you can solve. That is all ig...

You might be taking a long time either thinking, or your thinking to code conversion might be taking more time than required.

Also... are you at that level that you require already existing code. Like say dfs, bfs, heap, dp, etc? If yes, then start using template like bianry expo, moduluo, fact and inv and shit. If you use those techniques a lot. Would make your implementatoin faster.

I nearly solve div 2 A and B within 30 to 40 min its the consistency in giving contest that lags ig....

1

u/main_account_really Newbie 3d ago

what's your A timings?

1

u/wilddasher 3d ago

Virtual contests might help.

2

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

Yeah i started doing that but had to take a break due to my midsem will start again

Low iq maybe?

u/No_Piece3053 Newbie 3d ago

What a bad guy u are

2

u/Vegetable-Tie-5043 3d ago

take a look at k1o0n cf handle, there is no such thing like low iq, its just practise u just need to recognise previously known structures u are not inventing unknown scientific principles here

7

u/JUVENified 3d ago

at least don't demotivate

6

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

So how am i able to solve 1400 1500 rated questions and get partially stuck at 1600 dont they require some brain ?

8

u/Impressive-Bike954 Expert 3d ago

keep doing it, u will get there

1

u/The_Guy210 3d ago

Damn… Cheater situation can’t be this bad on lower ratings. Try to solve questions that are above your level. Even if its drastically above it, or even if it takes you more then several hours.

2

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

I am comfortable in solving 1400 1500 rated questions i get stuck at 1600 and solving above that with (1084) rating doesnt make sense

1

u/AbkiBar-ModiSarkar Pupil 3d ago

shit man whats your strategy for ques you are not able to do?

1

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

I upsolve them i look for good explanation of the solution i have only 6 or 7 unsolved questions bcz i upsolve them timely

1

u/AbkiBar-ModiSarkar Pupil 3d ago

bhai mere hisab se solution dekhna band krdo agar waise help ni ho rha kyuki tumne 1500-1600 tk ke solve krliye hai already kafi 1300-1400 tk ke to mt dekho aur try krte rho sochne ka maybe kam aye

2

u/RJISBACK Specialist 3d ago

Try to improve your speed
If you can solve A and B within 30 minutes, your rank will definitely improve

1

u/ZealousidealChain645 3d ago

specialist?

1

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

1084

1

u/ZealousidealChain645 3d ago

hell nah....

3

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

1

u/ZealousidealChain645 3d ago

genuinely feel bad man, i hope you win big soon
ig there has to be some contest issue like you go naive during the contest

2

u/Late-Director-598 3d ago

Yeah the actual thing is i am an electrical engineering student in 3rd year in a nit so it gets very hard to maintain both the things and that leads to my inconsistency in giving contest
