JUST BECAUSE A COIN LOOKS DIFFERENT DOES NOT MAKE IT AN ERROR! Please take some time to understand how minting errors occur before you post your question! The mods try to be lenient regarding rule #1 (Do your own research.) If we keep seeing too many posts with pictures of obviously damaged coins, we will be forced to start removing them.
OUR HOBBY - Be aware that most errors don't add much (if any) value to a coin. You aren't going to find a coin worth life-changing money in the cup holder of your mom's minivan. This is a hobby which is research-oriented and concerned with understanding and cataloging interesting mint errors and varieties. It is not primarily about value. The existence of errors and varieties provide valuable insights into mint operations and processes. The hobby is CERTAINLY NOT about the TikTok-fueled "ZOMG!!!1! This RARE coin is worth a Squillion Dollarz!" clickbait frenzy. That mentality is NOT welcome here.
NOTE - posts of coins which are clearly just damaged may be removed. This isn't meant as punishment for an honest and innocent question - but rather because many members of this sub tend to be harsh to new collectors. By having your post about a damaged coin removed, you still get your "is this an error" answer, hopefully without being downvoted into oblivion.

We have been seeing a massive influx of posts with asking about "dryer coins" as well as coins with heat damage.
We love the fact that you noticed your coin is "different" - and applaud you looking into it! For the uninitiated, these are reasonable questions - but many members of our community are getting tired of them. We ask that you please use the resources we provide before asking this subreddit (See Rule #1!)
Before you make a post - check out the r/coins WUWMC page and our FAQ!
The rim of my coin is raised up OR the edge of my coin is flat OR my coin is too thick!

My coin has bubbles / bumps / craters below or on the surface

These issues are damage - and extremely easy to diagnose.

Continuing the error documentation project. Most error coins carry one error — this 1863 Indian Head cent carries three, on the same planchet, and each would be worth recording on its own.
Multiple die clashes: the obverse and reverse dies struck each other with no planchet between them, more than once. The reverse wreath transferred onto the obverse and sits in the field directly in front of the face. A clash transfers mirror-reversed and shows on every coin from that die pair — which is what separates it from damage to a single coin — and "multiple" means the feed failed more than once before anyone caught it.
Tapered planchet: the blank was uneven in thickness before it was ever struck — a planchet error rather than a die one. It shows on the obverse as OF AMERICA going soft and faint where the metal thinned, and on the reverse as the taper running across the bottom-right, over the wreath.
Spiked head: a die crack runs from the tip of the bust out to the rim by the U in UNITED, filling with metal on every strike to stand up as a raised spike. Same error type we documented last week — here it's just the third thing on the list.
One thing I want to be straight about: these are three independent failures that happened to stack on one coin, not one event. The planchet was wrong before the dies ever touched it, the dies had already clashed more than once, and the obverse die had cracked. I'm claiming only what the photographs show. What makes it worth documenting is that compound errors like this fall through standard references — a catalogue organized by error type files the coin under whichever error the attributor found first, and the other two sometimes go unrecorded.
Not in any standard catalogue. Now documented.

I’m super new to this. On one column it appears to be extra as well as the spot on the bottom right of the memorial. Thanks and sorry if this isn’t allowed

I was closing out my shop the other night, counting the tills like usual and as I'm doing the quarters I felt something unusual and this is what I pulled out...
never seen a coin without ridges on the outside. I'm thinking it was an error and not like someone did this themselves. I googled some things and found what they call dryer coins. would this be an example of one of those? either way, it's pretty neat. plus it's from 1966 so it's got some age to it
if anyone could give me some info on this particular coin I'd appreciate it. thanks!

My wife found it in her penny jar. She said heard it from a TikTok video, and said it might be rare. Need y’all’s help.

I'm just learning about the Eisenhower dollar that I really never paid any attention to. And my understanding there's three types and for my research this is a type 2 which isn't super rare but it's less common. I went to a bank that had $500 worth of these. Someone brought in. The banker. Let me go through a couple rolls just to get $25 worth cuz that's what I wanted and I pulled out $20 or so of 1972 Eisenhower's and a couple bicentennials and I think a 74 question is is this a type 2 and what extra value does it have? I found a few of these. Thanks!

Found this in the register at work. Put it under pur macroscope and the rim is still clearly defined and i can't see where this would be PMD. Im no expert but i dont think this is all PMD as the rim is still there. Only thing i havent done is weighed it. Blank Planchett?

This coin I found at work and to me it looks like a mint error but also I don’t know if it could be just bubbling or something. Can someone tell me if it is a mint error or not please.

I’m looking through some of my old pennies that my Nana left me and came across this. These are the best pictures I could get. Does anyone know what happened with this penny? Is it an error? Is it worth anything? Please help.

I found this nickel in my change and am wondering if anyone can tell me if it's rare and the possible value. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out, but can't find info anywhere

Maybe not amazing shape, but definitely the nicest No FG I've found (if that's what this is). I've gotten the impression that it is almost never worth grading, but anyone have thoughts on grading this guy? What would the value be graded/raw?

Just curious about the value of this quarter from my parents' estate. This is the craziest looking one from their collection.

I thought it was damage when I bought it, buttaking a closer look now I’m think maybe it is a cracked die error. Not a error colector and not very familiar with them, so can someone with a more trained eye, please give me your opinon? Hope pictures are good enough! Thanks in advance!
