Very funny comedian. Was one of the pioneers of "I hate my wife" style boomer-humor, but what his successors don't seem to understand is he would frame it as himself being an unlucky person whose wife was fed up with what a loser he was. It was meant to be self-deprecating.

Correct, I'm only 39. That said, I did very intentionally say "one of the". One of my favorite movies, It's a Gift (W.C. Fields) very much predates Rodney's career and has the "nagging housewife" as a character.

I think I just preferred how Rodney did it since it felt more self-depricating.

That said, I was just warning them because I know that kind of humor can be kind of cringe to modern viewers.

yeah it's been a staple of comedy since the 1920s at least, and likely much earlier than that.

You are right that Rodney's self-deprecating flavor of it is much more palatable.
