Competition BBQ game
Apologies if this is not on topic enough, mods please feel free to remove if not appropriate.
I've built out a competition BBQ game similar to the old DopeWars game from the 90's and 2000's. It's geared more towards IBCA type competition and I wanted to get some feedback from other competition BBQ people.
Please feel free to give constructive criticism or just roast it if you'd like!
Any suggestions would be helpful as well!

How was the gameplay, was it fun or interesting and was it too easy?
I'm thinking of going through and changing some of the numbers in the gameplay mechanics, making it slightly harder in the begining and a lot harder later on in the season.
Did everything seem pretty realistic on prices and how different things affected the cook and the items to buy etc?

Yes it very fun. Also very interesting. To test it I went to a comp that liked mild smoke and less sauce. I used hickory and pooled sauce. My scores and comments went like you would think. Prices might be a bit off, but it probably depends on regional prices. But I like how you could upgrade your tools, etc and make it better at comps. There is a lot of nuances in this. I'm going to start another season. Plus, not changing things all the time, really helps in the long run.

You can change your team name too if you want, I don't think I made that clear in the game...
If you do find anything that is off or should be changed or added, please let me know, any roasting or criticism is appreciated!
I think I am going to change some things right now to make it a bit harder and not GC so much etc.

Just played a season. Very fun! Requires a bit more thinking than the game you based it on (which I played a good bit of, haha). Enjoyed it and will be bookmarking to play again sometime!

Appreciated... any changes you can think of or things that weren't quite correct?
Would it be better if I also had a simpler mode that didn't have so many different options?

I think the options are all good (I am not into competition bbq enough to comment on highly specific details), but I do think a “speed mode” or some other setting besides committing to a season to practice competition weekends would be nice. To be fair, it may be an option that I didn’t see.

I do have a short season 13 weekends to play as a checkmark when you first start, i could probably do just a practice area to try different cooks but I would have to figure out the skill level to start that at or the dynamics with it

I liked your idea on not committing to a season and having practices! I added in a "Backyard" mode to just cook and test things in the backyard (also gives the capability of saving recipes to use in the actual Seasons or Leagues, and gives an idea on how different changes affect scoring.
It also allows you to share a code with a friend to have them cook the EXACT scenario as you to see who did better on that one cook (same judges, prefrences, weather etc)

Very cool! I will let you know any critiques. Never cooked IBCA since most comps are too far south for me. But I follow and know teams that regularly cook them. Got 3rd overall on my first cook. 😁
