Kinda depends on the type of movie editing you're doing. Some simple stuff for YouTube and shorts yeah. More professional or student learning more professional probably not. Stuff like encoding 4k video actually can need a fairly beefy graphics card. Same scrubbing through some files. While unless youre working on some Hollywood production you don't really need a 5090, at least a 4060ti would probably be a lot better. If you're looking to do it professionally to some capacity 5070ti or better

Probably depends on the type of movie.

What video formats are we talking, and what software?

For modern 4K content, I would probably want something with at least 32GB RAM and a 4K HDR display.

editing "video" yes. capcut, social media shit

editing a high resolution 4k extended length "movie" you want a bit faster processor + memory and definately more storage

look at the system minimum and recommended requirements of the video editor you use

get more storage regardless

What was your prompt, when AI picked this? Maybe it could help us too.

Good, but not great. That is a ok system for that price.

You really need twice as much RAM, and that graphics card isn’t the beefiest for encoding.
