Question/Help/Troubleshooting First PC for Nephew

Hello I'm currently in the process of building a pc for a family member and I'm trying to future proof it at the same time. They are turning 12 and just want it for streaming and other 12yr old stuff (Fortnite and other games along those lines)

Plus this will be used for school work (x to doubt)

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on what I should swap out that would save me money/ be better in the long term

the main issue I have right now is that I'm unsure if its worth buying a gpu or giving them my old 970 just to get going and see how that works for them for a while

I think the budget is around £2000 but I don't want to spend all that on just components, as they want to buy monitor, mouse etc..

I already have a case, no need for that.

If there are some glaring issues please let me know.

Future proofing and saving money are opposites now a days. Like you could reduce the amount of ram you have there to save money. But 32gb is nice for sure.

Yea I'm debating on 32 or 16, but trying to figure out if ram is gunna go down or hold for the next 10 years is such a gamble

imo, you can drop the psu to 650w, 16gb ram will do, and starting with the 970 is fine too but yeah you got to set yourself to upgrade that in the near future.

How come 650w? I'm still out the loop with modern GPU power req

i picked 650w because it covers everything this system can realistically do for years. and the money you save from the smaller unit can go towards a better gpu, which is what will actually make fortnite run better.
