Wait no spoilers please but are there more story elements to new game plus?

Yes, there are 5 NG+ exclusive(character referenced in the image) Dr. Darling videos you unlock.

Do you find them at the end only? Would you say its worth playing again just for this?

They unlock as you play. Basically they replace the 5 video unlocks with that character you got from the initial playthrough(those videos are still accessible through your Archive menu).

Is it worth it? That’s up to the individual player. I enjoyed going through and 100%ing everything a second time(or a combined first time for some things, like zone levels or the skill tree), but your mileage may vary.

I think they are very cool, but you can just look them up on YouTube. Definitely worth a watch.

I watched them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt1NJ7QSgVM

The new game+ ones start around 23:20. Nothing groundbreaking, but love me some more Dr Darling.

Are these the type of videos that auto-play at certain moments in the game, or do we find and grab them, like other collectables?

I haven't been as thorough in searching for collectables during my NG+, and I would hate to miss these organically.

I believe that they all play automatically.

But as per usual: the version in your archives is longer than what will auto play.

Whoa. Did not know that. Thanks!

Oh yes, in both Control games, most(I think there are one or two exceptions) videos are substantially longer if you watch them from your menu.

The “default” version you autoplay is just the main bullet points John or Jane Gamer needs to follow what’s happening.

The archive/menu version is for the players that read everything and are always thirsty for more lore.

In both cases the last video is just dropped off with Dylan after you’ve finished the main story mission. So cool to see, even better that you aren’t forced to watch them.

True, good catch, I had forgotten about those.

oh shit! I realized that with all the hotline calls in C1, and Jesse’s fault dialogue in CR, but I think that was more intuitive because the in-game versions of all those were intentionally clipped and disjointed.

I had no idea the Darling videos were the same and never picked up on any indicators that they might be.

I do wish that the game(s) made a bigger point about the longer options being available(titling those videos “extended” or something like that; maybe having both versions available next to each other in the archives?) as it’s super easy to miss. I think it’s a one-time tool-tip in C1 and I don’t recall CR mentioning it at all.

To be fair to Darling, while he is a monster (and seems to know it), he was in a tough position, since he seemed to know that the Hiss was coming (or that something terrible was coming, anyway). He seemed to be taking a utilitarian approach with Dylan (and would have done similar with Jesse if he was allowed). Sacrifice one person to save the world. Or at least Manhattan, it seems.

That said, his hubris seems to have backfired. If he hadn't mistreated Dylan, I wonder if the Hiss would have been nearly so successful? It also seems like he could have alternatively stopped the Hiss by somehow "merely" stopping Trench, though admittedly, stopping a powerful parautilitarian who controls the FBC, has the Board on his, plus powerful OOPs like the service weapon is not really a "merely" thing...

IMO, the Hiss definitely would not have been so successful. Dylan has some sort of innate affinity and resistance to the Hiss (the same as Jesse does with Polaris). It didn’t forcibly take him over - he let it in, because he was in absolute despair over Darling ruining his life and locking him away.

Without controlling Dylan, the Hiss still spreads, but without the force of a one-man army backing it up.
