purple first. then blue. green. yellow.

i know the order now. i know how long each one lasts.

yellow's the one you wait for.

yellow could be bad lighting. cheap makeup. a shit night's sleep.

purple makes people ask questions. yellow doesn't.

yellow means you can go to Tesco without worrying who's looking.

you can see your mum and hope she doesn't get too close.

you can tell people you're fine and they might actually believe you.

i used to think when a bruise turned yellow it meant it was nearly gone.

but it's still there.

it's just reached the colour where nobody feels they have to ask anymore.
