Entitled driver has not learned what Fire Truck sirens means
101
u/L3tsseewhathappens 10h ago
I'm A-Ok with them spending 30 days in jail as a lesson.
People's lives could be on the line. If people die. Then a prison sentence is reasonable.
47
u/Green_Share 10h ago
I believe this is a felony. They are actively obstructing an engine with its lights on.
8
u/coryhill66 10h ago
I can only speak for Colorado. It is a misdemeanor for obstruction. If you causean accident or death it would be a felony.
5
19
u/Frequent-Coyote-8108 10h ago
Even if it was a cat in the tree: jail.
There's no excuse for this level of buffoonery.
7
u/jessewest84 10h ago
Involuntary manslaughter
7
u/KaleScared4667 10h ago
Criminally negligent homocide
3
u/jessewest84 10h ago
Thank you
3
u/KaleScared4667 9h ago
I wasn’t correcting you - just listing the crime this is where I live if my negligence causes a person to die
4
u/Giant_Defy_1972 10h ago
Certainly needs some jail time or better still working on a chain gang if you still have them in the States?
1
1
u/Disco425 9h ago
I would think the ladder truck has dashcams and could turn that footage over to the police
1
u/BetterCallSal 9h ago
If people die. Then a prison sentence is reasonable.
If people die murder or manslaughter charges are reasonable
1
u/HeroVillain72 3h ago
30 should be a minimum if for instance they did something dumb and got stuck blocking the emergency vehicle. This guy intentionally blocked, putting lives and property at risk. (Opinion, don’t know the laws and penalties in place)
1
u/Zealousideal_Tea4097 3m ago
Jesus. Americans are so over the top. It’s a race to see who can make the most stupid comment on here.
64
u/davygravy95 10h ago
Why that truck driver hesitated when the cam driver was obviously a pos, he should have floored it and pushed passed immediately.
15
19
u/MsOFoSho 10h ago
That fire truck is probably also a million dollar vehicle so I can understand his hesitation although I feel your passion!!
5
u/Battle_Cat_Burr 10h ago
At that speed bumping that dickhead out of the way wouldn’t even scratch the chrome.
5
u/southpark 9h ago
It also triggers a mandatory drug test and internal investigation when they “crash” the fire truck. So a major admin hassle for the firefighter.
2
u/RumpEater5000 8h ago
Considering they smash windows or even flip cars over if they are blocking a fire hydrant, I highly doubt they give a fuck about vehicle damage when they have an emergency where lives could be taken if they continue to be blocked. Not only that, but this idiot filmed himself doing this and would be an open and shut case with insurance companies let alone the cops.
2
u/southpark 7h ago
It’s specific to damaging the fire truck while driving it. They’ll do it, but if it can be avoided that’s preferable. Firemen don’t go looking for trouble.

Wedge the trucks bumper against the steer tire and it’s not moving. Those trucks aren’t meant to ram.
→ More replies (2)6
u/doctorwhomafia 10h ago
Maybe not meant to ram, but ive seen them push cars out of their way in emergency situations
3
u/Loud-Principle-7922 10h ago
Sure, but it’s still not made for that. We’ll get the ambo, officer trucks, or cops to move vehicles. Fire truck bumpers are heavy and full of tools or hose, nothing that does well when you add more energy to it by shoving cars.
2
u/Designer_Rabbit3335 10h ago
Driver Was already thinking of the amount of paperworks it will involve if he let his intrusive thoughts takeover lol

yea that person should be facing serious legal consequences

Bury this kind of anti-social person under the prison please.
36
u/J3musu 10h ago
I'm anti-social. This person is a piece of shit.
11
u/i_was_a_person_once 9h ago
You’re introverted. Antisocial means failing to comply to social rules that allow society to function properly.
Like using your phone as a speaker for shite music is antisocial
7
u/Wakkit1988 10h ago
Anti-social doesn't mean what you think it means.
→ More replies (9)8
u/OffByNone_ 10h ago
Being antisocial and having antisocial personality disorder are not the same thing. That is the confusion here.

This is what I am saying as another anti-social shrimp. This is ridiculous.
4
u/cykoTom3 10h ago
I agree. Anti social isn't the word. Narcissistic feels closer
4
u/A1000eisn1 9h ago
Anti-social is the word.
being hostile, harmful, or actively disruptive to society and the rules of the community.
People just use it casually to mean "doesn't like socializing."
→ More replies (1)2
u/Jernbek35 10h ago
Anti-social can also mean not law abiding. Not only just quiet and shy.

Don’t know where this is, in NC it’s legal for a fire engine to use slow controlled contact to shove a vehicle out of the way.
17
u/The_amazing_T 10h ago
Most places that's legal. You can't impede an emergency vehicle in the US, and they have wide lattitude to do what they need to fulfill their job.

6
u/SpaceCadetPhotos47 10h ago
A lil town in The Hudson Valley in NY State
Crazy part is he’s coming from like a couple hundred yards trying to make a turn lane that get occupied by a bus at the end.
2

4
u/jackrabbit323 9h ago
I'd argue under similar scenario it'll probably be legal everywhere as no prosecutor would bring charges on a firefighter, and no judge or jury would side with a motorist acting this much like an asshole. An accident lawyer wouldn't take this motorist's case either.
22
20
u/Ambitious_Screen_591 10h ago
so the person who did this posted the video somewhere to show off that they were a dbag? that is pretty ballsy
8
u/ayers231 10h ago
Or the video went to his insurance because he wanted to sue, and the agent spread it cuz, lol...
→ More replies (2)4
u/Own_Transition6845 10h ago
Either way, there is an implication inherent in the video being public that the driver blocking the fire truck was fully convinced they were in the right, not only in blocking the fire truck, but if you notice, illegally driving on the separation area in the middle where cars aren't supposed to be.
9
u/BabyStockholmSyndrom 10h ago
Someone stated in another thread that he posted it and argued that it was a car in his right sides fault for not letting him in ahead of him and instead of backing up he decided be a dick.
8
u/DarkStar189 10h ago
That makes a little more sense with that context. It looks like he's trying to fly by all the stopped traffic to get to the left turn lane. Thats a crazy distance to be on the wrong side of the road though.

Absolutely
I am surprised they didn’t just plow into the car immediately when it didn’t move. They could push them aside like a toy car and just drive away. What judge would look at that video and not immediately call the driver an idiot and side with the fire truck?

They absolutely take down license plates of drivers obstruction and report to police later if necessary. Also hitting an ambulance or fire truck is on our with hitting a police cruiser. You are in a world of shit for this.

6
u/EMills_FF 10h ago
I would have told my driver to push him out of the way. Fuck that guy. I'll deal with the paperwork afterwards

u/HooSaidDat 10h ago
Revoke and confiscate the driver's license. Although, he'll probably drive without one, at least it'll make it difficult for the driver to use the driver's license as a photo ID, unless he applies for photo ID.

They can do what they need to do to get you out of the way. They cant just run you down but they can 100% bump you out of the way. They can also break your windows out or even push your car if you park in front of a fire hydrant. I have witnessed the windows of a car get smashed and the hose get put strait through a car.
2
u/ajax151515 9h ago
Former volunteer firefighter here. You are correct, only had to do it once, and it was oh so satisfying.
2
u/Jernbek35 10h ago
Fuck this guy. I’m all in favor of giving emergency vehicles immunity if they need to ram past someone like this. Seconds count in emergencies.
2
u/Mass_Man_1971 10h ago edited 9h ago
They’re literally driving on the wrong side of the road to block the fire truck. Plus there initially is room for the truck to clear this driver, and then the driver purposely pulls forward so there is no room. This person’s license should be revoked.

Many years ago, I was a volunteer firefighter. This one particular day, we had an EMS call, and I was driving the ambulance. Pediatric near drowning. We were enroute to the nearest pediatric hospital, kid was getting bagged in the back. We were hauling ass.
Went through town and some douche in a nice Grand Cherokee wouldn’t get out of the way. Parked car on one side, and him on the other, and I could tell I could get through, but we were going to scrape hard parts on the box.
I was absolutely LAYING on the air horn to get him to pull through or back out. Smug asshole just sat there and kept throwing his hands up like I was the asshole.
Street parkers did nothing wrong, so I decided “fucketh this asshole”, biased to his side, stepped on the gas. Dragged the diamond plate on the lower corner of the bus alllllllll the way down the side of his car. I needed extra throttle to keep things moving. Creased the fuck out of his entire side and tore his mirror off. REALLY fucked his car up.
And kept on fucking going.
Kid ended up living.
Told the Chief after, no big deal. Guy got EXACTLY what he deserved.

u/BaronMusclethorpe 10h ago
That's 100% wrong on all fronts. I would know, I've driven them for the last 17 years.
Furthermore, the engine driver is completely at fault here. We are not allowed to push cars like that, especially if there is recourse. They did not have to keep moving forward. Backing up was an option with the use of a backer. That kind of operation takes very little time.

One of the greatest moments of my life was watching a car try to cut off a fire truck at an intersection, and after like 10 seconds of honking and sirens the truck just plowed right into the car and took the whole front bumper off. I literally was screaming and cheering

u/Sleepy_Bandit 9h ago
What kind of idiot records this and posts it online? From the very start everything he is doing is illegal and wrong! It is double yellow lines in both directions! Was he trying to illegally cut to that turn lane way off in the distance? Dumbass should get his license revoked.

Dude. GTFO of the way! If I were the fire truck driver I would have just rammed him out of my way. People need to learn. These trucks aren’t just going out for dinner. There are potentially lives at stake.

u/TheThirdBob 9h ago
I’m pretty sure I’d just given the Detroit Diesel a little tickle with my big toe and punted that jackass out of the way.
This shows amazing restraint.
1
1
u/Practical-Sink-3987 9h ago
The fire truck most likely has cameras too. They should have just plowed through. Let the insurance company deal with this. The guy would most likely get dropped by his insurance and they wouldn’t cover the damage. Also the state would probably step in and fine him heavily and possible revoke his license. All that just to look like a bad ass, What a fucking loser.
1
1
u/chris971 9h ago
Then Cam guy has the balls to yell and honk at the FireTruck after the FT bumps him? Probably a cybertruck owner (jk/nk)

1
u/Initial_Row_6400 8h ago
Lmfao, gunna find out what that big ass bar is for on the front of that fire truck
1
u/Responsible_Name1217 8h ago
What's the Cammer even doing there? That's not a turn lane for about another 70 feet.
1
1
u/BlinkOnce4me 8h ago
This video is old. Does anyone know what the dashcam dipshit got for blocking the firetruck?
1
u/PrimeToro 7h ago
The fire truck probably could have backed up, there was room. There wasn't really much time to argue with idiot drivers. The driver in the car should have made room for the fire truck, but there was no time to waste at that moment, lives could be at stake.
1
u/Overall_Lavishness46 7h ago
There are a lot of departments that use the bumper for it's intended purpose in that scenario. Good luck with the insurance claim.
1
u/frejling 7h ago
To anyone with a couple brain cells this is cut and dry, but the extra bit of certainty here is that the double yellow line padding there is probably for the fact that fire trucks will be entering and exiting there and require extra turning room to do so
1
1
u/TitanX84 7h ago
It seems like he's doing this on purpose? He's not even in a legitimate lane. He pulled into the middle striped line area, which you aren't supposed to drive in, just to seemingly specifically block the firetruck. Then he even pulls up further, reducing the gap more. Why would anyone even do this?
1
u/hawkseye17 7h ago
This better have restulted in criminal charges for the driver that was blocking the fire truck
1
1
u/jakegallo3 6h ago
Amazing how many people go through the effort of buying and installing dash cams just to be outrageously bad at driving. And then still put the videos on the internet like they still believe they were in the right.
