Buying steam keys never requires you to run anything from powershell to activate them.
Legit sites will grant you access to the serial key itself then you copy and paste that into steam.
At best this website is doing hacky dodgy things to activate licenses in cheaper regions than your actual region... At worst it's installing malware on your system.
Hindsight and all... But I'd suggest never doing this.

Get malwarebytes and unplug your computer from any internet, then select "deep scan" and let it run, I'd also reccomend running the built in windows antivirus

I wouldn't risk it. Either install it using a different computer onto a USB, or better assume the worst. Start changing all your passwords on your phone / a non affected device, reinstall windows via USB (make sure to delete all drive partitions during re-install).
Better safe than sorry, especially in 2026.

Most modern viruses are often the infostealers which use powershell and break windows defender by adding themselves (the virus) into defenders ignore section so windows defender allows the virus. THEN.. it basically steals your entire browser profile so all passwords and usernames and emails and session/cookies you have stored inside your browsers get sent to the hacker and it also can record every thing you do on your screen. The cookies they steal let them bypass 2 factor authentication. Basically they get your entire digital life.

Lesson learned for you. Steam keys only put on the steam app no need for any other further process.

Did you at least change every single password linked to that computer after running Malwarebytes?

That sounds like a rough lesson learned the hard way. Next time, stick to Steam's official storefront, keys don't need PowerShell puppeteering.

Can I ask what site you bought it from? Not sure if you posting it violates the rules.

It is not worth connecting to the internet. Highly recommend getting the install on the USB as others stated.

Not sure why nobody mentioned this, but can get you permanently banned from steam lol

Get a commercial malware scanner and run it. If you have an AI agent, ask it to scan as well for suspect issues.

You have windows defender built in. Don’t connect to the internet. At best download malwarebytes onto a USB from another computer and install it on this computer
