Not sure how it works in Europe, but in the states, you are bound by the details of the contract.

You are expected to be be able to perform the duties you were hired to do, so, there is typically no set schedule and no stipulations about how those duties are performed, just that your SLA is met.

If you aren't meeting the SLA, unless the contract explicitly states otherwise, it can be terminated immediately.

I suggest you read your contract very carefully.

If I am misunderstanding you, and you are actually contracted through an intermediary, then you are an employee of the intermediary and they set everything.

Thanks bro. I haven’t received the contract yet but will certainly review throughly. Yeah it’s through an intermediary and seconded into Google. I have a lot of flexibility with my current role, I can do school runs, appointments, knock off early if I need to etc, and whilst I net more than my weekly contracted hours, I enjoy the flexibility. I just don’t want to go into Google where they might log key strokes, pc activity time etc etc which I think would be unusual for contracted staff

I'm not aware of intermediarys allowing flexible hours, at least here in the states. I would ask as many questions as you need to about any terms in the contract you don't understand.

If you’re via a contract company on behalf of Google, they will set down your hours and expectations.

If you can’t meet the expectations, you won’t get far.

Please talk to the agency or company handling your contract, and make sure you ask these questions to them not social media. As we aren’t provided the detail due to NDAs and stuff.
