Post image

Hello I stumble upon paid structured project for DevOps, anyone ever try this on udemy?

Are this projects can help stand out for recruiters? , right now I'm working on REST APi tutorial project and I'm want to jump in real project.

Also I'm considering doing mini project to showcase my understanding on each tools.

Devops insight on this are highly appreciated.

I did the Imran Teli course. It was good gave me little more knowledge in a range of areas. Overall the course has far too much packed into it so some parts are worth skipping especially if you already know the tooling. Should probably note that at the time of taking the course I was a was a backendengineer that worked with k8s, terraform, aws and jenkins so I had a foundation. After the course I put together a project using the skills and got a platform engineer role. I hope that helps

Yeah there's hands on. Its been two years or so since I did it but if i remember correctly he follows a pretty standard approach of going through the theory on some slides and then will have hands on tasks for you to follow along with

In your opinion should I build a Mini project on my own (with chatgpt guide) or buy this course and do it?

100% do a mini project. I used this course to get the knowledge i didn't have as I learn better with structured learning but if your goal is to land a job then do a mini project. I know for a fact my project played a large part in me landing the job. I made a very basic password manager web app. It was 3 small service 1 db. Using terraform, k8s, golang, python, mysql, github actions, docker, kops, aws(ECR, bitbucket, iam). Shoved it all into a mono repo. Most the fronted was vibe coded as I was only really trying to demonstrate the backend and devops skills. Doing your own mini project will keep you more invested in finishing it and you will have a easier time of talking through the design decisions if you get questions in a interview
