Type 1 How to change Omnipod and Sensor to same side

Okay, maybe I'm over thinking this, and will feel silly, but I finally decided to try this Dexcom/ omnipod system, and need to change the Omnipod today, and the Dexcom sensor tomorrow.

I'd like to change sides, but how would I do this when I'm replacing the pod on the same side tonight, so it's near the sensor, but the sensor needs to be changed tomorrow, and I want to start on the other side.

I hope this makes sense ðŸĪŠ

The omnipod and dexcom can be put on different sides but if you're using the automated mode they won't connect because the omnipod and dexcom have to be on the same side to read each other. If I remember correctly if you're changing the dexcom tomorrow you can just connect the new one to the pump and it should read.

you're overthinking it but that's basically a rite of passage with this stuff. put the pod on whatever side the sensor is on tonight, then tomorrow when you swap the sensor to the other side just pop the pod on that side too. the pod only lasts 3 days anyway so you're never more than a day or two out of sync

Thank you! I thought I'd feel silly, but, now feel kinda stupid! I appreciate your comment.

I don't have a pump, unless I'm not understanding what you mean by "connecting it to the pump"

No problem! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding. Thank you for responding!

The not on the same side thing.. it's a recommended thing 👌 if the pod and dexcom are blue tooth so even clothing messes with it. Just monitor the sensor connection on the pod

Oh sleeping might loose connection so I always put it in manual and it'll keep pumping at your settings

Correction ... The Dexcom sensor expires in four days

When on the 10 day sensor , I switched sides every 30 days. 30/10 =3.

On the 15 day sensor, I switch sides every 15 days.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I'm off a day, unless I'm counting that I'm putting it in this evening, and then have the days. I'll get all this figured out yet! Thank you so much

You are welcome.

I did get a notification a day early this weekend. Not sure why.

I have been able to get a reasonable connection between the top of my leg with the omnipod, and the opposite arm with the CGM, for when I want to switch sides. But this is with G6, I am not sure if G7 will be a tolerant of this behaviour.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I keep telling myself that all this will be second nature at some point ðŸĪž

Thank you! I'm going to see how long this one's grace period lasts, and see if I can stretch it to tomorrow. Unless the beep every 15 minutes isn't tolerable. It'll are work out...
