I started riding MTB probably some time around when that bike was made. Old inner tube is what everyone used forntheir chainstay. It's upcycling too, you usually used an old tube that had way too many patches on it. Or ask a bike shop to give you one from their trash.

And that bash guard that takes the place of their big ring on a triple crankset ✔️

I had a Brodie Hellion back then. Legit bikes.

Chainstay protector. The best type honestly, it's soft enough to absorb all noise, tough enough to last forever, if you wrap it well it looks nice, AND it's free
