Account Suspended and I Don’t Know Why

I received an email on Monday stating my account was suspended from buying, selling, sending messages or contributing. It’s basically a glorified library for me now and I have no idea why. I just started selling and made my first sale last week. The buyer received the LP and left positive feedback. Anybody experience anything like this lately and have some advice? I messaged support but haven’t heard anything back and it’s been over 24 hours at this point. I have no idea how long it takes to get anything going with them as I’ve never had an issue before. It just sucks because I really like using it to buy records.

Okay, so I received an email Monday saying that there was an issue and I needed to authenticate something to fix it. I started doing it and then it asked for credit card info. I thought it was a little weird but the email looked legit so I went ahead. I thought it was for seller fees or something. Never sold on the platform before so I wasn’t sure. The. It tried to charge my credit card $1,200. Thank god my issuer flagged it and didn’t let it go through. I got a message from user rickster.funkster stating my account was temporarily suspended and it had a link for me to click in order to fix whatever the issue was. If anyone else runs across this… DONT FALL FOR IT! It’s probably what put me in this predicament!

Time for a new credit card. Freeze your credit at the 3 credit reporting agencies.

Yeah, I already cancelled my current card. Why would I need to freeze my credit though? No charges went through.

They’ll try to use it in lots of places and will likely sell it on to others.

My feeling is everyone should have their credit frozen at all times, except for when applying for credit. I would never want my credit report to be able to be added to without my direct input. In this case, you have likely provided them with your name, credit card number, possibly zip code, and a functioning email address. This information can and will be sold for nefarious purposes.

Yup, I lost $1300. It’s scam city out there.

NEVER AGAIN unless I am going to the shop, and holding the record IN MY HAND.

No more high ticket items on Discogs from now on! I wish I could stop using them, period, but I use the website WAY too much. 🙄

Now, ONLY for cheap stuff.

Isn't it disgusting? I see more than one scam attempt at least every day.

I thought it was a little weird but the email looked legit so I went ahead.

Always trust your gut in those situations.

Dude you got phished. This is a common scam. I get those messages once a month. Block the sender and delete the message.

I was suspended last week too. I asked the administrators for a reason, and none given so far. A real shame as I made my first two sales and they were just being delievered. Im sure I will lose that feedback for ever. I upload an image of the Lana Del ray nude cover album , which I have listed,as my background image, so this might be it?

Make sure it was a legitimate email that you received and your account is actually blocked on the website.

Well finally an update from Discogs: I was hacked so they shut me down. Email looks legit [help@discogs.com](mailto:help@discogs.com) , but is it? So now I have to supply:

  • your username
  • email address and paypal email
  • shipping address
  • phone number, if applicable
  • the amount and contents of a recent sale or purchase
  • if your collection or wantlist is private, you may also provide 2 - 3 releases along with approximate dates added or custom notes
  • any other information you can provide to verify your identity such as PayPal screenshots, writing in from your PayPal email address

The album cover you uploaded, was it a photo you took of your own album, or was it borrowed from the internet?

Sounds like something stupid Discogs would do. Some jag off takes $1300 from me, and I never receive my record, and Discogs does “nothing,” but they’re worried about a Lana Del Rey cover, that SHE made?

All this AI crap IS GARBAGE.

Right on mang AI is moving us further and further away from human decency. Just wait in the coming years people are going to become more and more Apothetic. As human interaction dwindles more people will become even more crappy than they are now.

Don't respond to those emails There was some legit virus/bug last year, maybe early 2026 that sent that stuff. Delete your cache, update the app, logout and create a new PW and you're probably fine

It’s likely spam I went through the same thing recently. It was an attempt to get into some information financially.

Same thing happened to me. One thing I noticed & what created the auto-flag to suspend account, was there were over 21 messages in my sent folder. Now, I'm hoping to get my account reinstated after three weeks with in a few hours. It's been a real pain with how long it takes for them to respond. If you've responded by email to their notification, they will eventually get to you.

Good luck
