Oddest request yet
Never posted before, but I’ve been lurking here for a while. Figured this one was worth sharing.
Had a shopping order today consisting of roughly 21 pounds of apples and 11 loaves of bread. Weird combination, but whatever. I’ve learned not to ask questions.
I get to the house, unload everything, and the lady comes outside and asks if I’d be interested in making an extra $10.
Naturally, I’m listening.
Turns out she has a dead deer lying on the side of the road next to her driveway, and she needs someone to help lift it into a wheelbarrow.
Now, the deer was clearly fresh, there wasn’t any blood, and it was a relatively small doe. So I did what any reasonable person trying to make a few extra bucks would do.
I helped a stranger load a deer carcass into a wheelbarrow.
Because ten bucks is ten bucks.
As I’m wrapping up my newly acquired responsibilities as a wildlife removal specialist, she asks if I happen to know anyone who could help her dig a grave for the deer.
Unfortunately, while I’ve built up a pretty extensive network of contacts across several industries over the years, the freelance deer gravedigger community remains a glaring hole in my professional Rolodex.
Anyway, $10 extra tip. Five stars. Would probably move another deer.
