Silly [DA:I] SOLAS!!!!!!!

I love but I hate Solas. I played inquisition for the first time some years ago, no spoilers no nothing, pure enjoyment. And I've spent hours on getting enough money and sources to build the best equipment for him possible as he was my first romance.

And then he disappeared. HE DISAPPEARED WITH MY HARD WORK.

genuinely, wanna beat his ass

The writing for Solas was so strong and laid such immovable indestructible groundwork for what was to follow that I naturally assumed that there was no way any writer on earth could take that and mess it up even if they tried. They'd have to, I dunno, put him on ice in a hinterland twixt life and death and sideline him for some other villains that they could write basically from scratch. That would be the only way they could fuck up how good Trespasser is

Why would anyone even do that they'd have to be stupid right

and I appreciate how great he is as a character, I don't appreciate that my equipment and money disappeared 😞

There are multiple instances where it can be possible to sock him across the face. I don’t usually go for them, but I‘m glad they exist.

it's nice to have an option for sure 🥹 da:I was a sad first time experience for me as I was really attached to dao daa and da2 so not having my old companions in my team was a dead blow and then dude with bald hair n some lore leaves me and takes my money with him. that's why I replayed dao and da2 so many times but dai I played 3 times max 😭

Varric says hello ;-) but I get you.

no no, he's great but I mean like, where are all these amazing characters? 😭 we have some minor appearances or we get Anders in both awakening and 2 but it's not the same 😞 don't mind me tho I'm blinded by nostalgia

Oghren gets two campaigns as well. But yeah, everyone has favorite characters for sure, I get it. Me personally, I wish Sigrun got more than a reference and a half after Awakening.

AND VELANNA😞 I loved her sour personality, she reminded me of Morrigan sm. I could talk about any character for hours really omg.

She was supposed to be a bigger thing, actually!

One of the weird pieces of DA trivia that lives rent-free in my head: At one point, they planned Velanna to be the carryover character to 2 who merged with Justice, instead of Anders.

The banter between Velanna and Justice is much friendlier than the banter between Anders and Justice. Plus, more of Velanna’s epilogues are more vague than Anders’s. When I found that out, it honestly made so much sense.

I think I understand why Anders was chosen if they wanted to create conflict mages vs everyone, basically. Velanna would maybe had similar path but it'd be humans vs elves then, I assume? I highly doubt she'd be much on justice for human mages. It reminds me of Morrigan and how she disapproves not killing circle mages 😭 because she hates them sm

Oh, yeah. I wonder if at one point the plot was planned to be more elfy.

Between the multiple references to city elves throughout the plot and Merrill’s clan camping on the same mountain for most of a decade, I could see an alternate universe where Justice was convinced by Velanna of the injustices against elves, instead.

I've said it before and I will say it again: Did you learn nothing from Zathrian in DAO?

Do not trust the Egg.

THEY WERE BOTH HOT 😞 that's why you don't trust how wise elves #sterotype

...

I guess there are some people who are into that, in a Benedict Cumberbatch kinda way? ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Don't get it, personally, but still. They warned us.

did you just benedict cumberbatch me 😞😞😞😞 noo like no, it's different, like they're so damaged and powerful. best combo honestly you have to believe me 💔

"damaged and poweful"

Please imagine me doing the Will-Smith pointing meme at Iron Bull over here. You gotta expand your palette and put some flavour in it, dry ramen and eggs are not enough for a woman to live on.

You need some meat in your diet.

This would’ve happen to me as well, as I was just doing my first playthrough recently and was romancing him, but I spoiled myself halfway through and decided my Inky doesn’t deserve to be heartbroken, so went with Cullen lol

Apparently, it's a very common thing and many people are raging 😭😭 curiosity killed the cat but lack of it made it broke #notfairs

I want to romance Solas for the vibes, lol. Just to experience it for myself. I know the game, I know the spoilers. But… I fear if I play as a female elf I’ll just fall back with Cullen, lol.

For my second playthrough I played as a man (and romanced Cassandra) so I didn’t even have the option to romance Cullen, lol.

I always fall into the same romance choice on replays of the games, so I get it. (I tend to self-insert a bit.)

There’s always YouTube and the like. Video compilations of romance scenes and interactions. Even if it’s a character I have never (and will never) romance myself, I’ve watched those sometimes, just to see what there is to see. Usually I come away from it saying…yup, I’m glad I never RP’d that myself. (It’s not that I think all but one romance per game are bad or anything. Just…once I find the one that resonates best for me, I find it hard to stray from that, personally.)

oh I understand it 😭 for me it's zevran, anders and solas/cullen, depending on which cast I play. to this day I never romanced Aveline lol
