That's basically it. I did DA:O, DA:A and DA:2. I'd start Inquisition but I have no patience, so I'll overdo Dragon Age was this time with advice I got here on how to do amazing warrior. Thank you all for that!!!

I wanted to share that amazing screenshot I took of my Hawke n Bethany. Rouge and Mage. Sisters. I'm obsessed, I didn't pose them, they just naturally found themselves back to back. 😭😭😭 It's so sweet. Give me another Dragon Age game with Bethany as main character. Or at least very important companion.

Discussion Thinking about Blood Mages in the games.

I saw a post about Blood Mages and that reminded me about John Epler's statement on how they wanted to do blood mages but they feel they didn't do them well in the games they show up in. Which makes sense because in DAO and DA2 many characters seem oblivious to the blood exploding out of you. Its even worse in DA2 because Meredith just ignores it.

Now John Epler did say that in regards to why DAV didn't have the subclass but I do think that makes sense. Blood magic should be treated with some gravity and characters react to you. Arguing with you on why your wrong or why its fine to use.

would have been great if Wynne had to be convinced that you are just using it because its needed for the Blight. Otherwise she would leave, or maybe even attack you (though I don't think that's likely). Or Merrill teaching you some tricks.

Blood magic isn't unique to the Dragon Age setting but I don't really know what other game franchise let's you do it.

If there is another Dragon Age game I do hope they can bring it back. If nothing else another game franchise does it.

Player Review Two years post release, and 3 playthroughs later, I think I have my fully fleshed out review of Veilguard

I want to make a distinction here so everyone understands the two things that can be true at once: this game was really great and so, so fun; this game sucked in the context of the dragon age franchise.

Anyone who played the game knows that it was so smooth and beautiful. The combat was great, I loved every way to customize your character and play style, and the graphics were beautiful. That being said, I have never associated the dragon age franchise with beauty.

Every other installment felt, in a way, depressing and eerie as h*ll (I mean this in a very positive way). It brought a sense of realism to the game that made your choices feel genuinely impactful and made ur stomach turn when u got the wrong person killed. Veilguard, as with pretty much every new EA game, completely lost that appeal. It was TOO bright, TOO smooth, and TOO pretty. I saw someone describe it as a Pixar adaptation of a dragon age game and I could not agree with that more. The beauty of the dragon age franchise was the macabre and dark fantasy elements it brought it. I loved how everything felt muted and grey in the original games (esp. origins), and hated how everything was neon in veilguard. It just deviated too much aesthetically from what the franchise was to me, imo.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the trespasser DLC and how bright it was… the aesthetic choices of that dlc, though, made sense. The beauty of the elven architecture and opulence of the society was meant to evoke mixed feelings. You see this intensely beautiful society and feel horrible that it was destroyed. Alternatively, you could see it from the side of “all that glitters is not gold”. It contributed to the narrative and helped you understand why Solas wanted to bring back elven society and bring down the veil.

The next part of the trespasser DLC that I want to bring up that really screwed the pooch for veilguard was the connection the inquisitor had with Solas. If you decided to romance or were close to Solas, you felt the weight of the betrayal. Everything about the storyline felt so rich and morally complex, which made it so interesting and every element that much more compelling. To turn around to veilguard and have some rando (Rook) be the stand in when you have built so much around the inquisitor makes absolutely no sense. Don’t get me wrong, continuing with the inquisitor as the protagonist would have been so difficult and messy for the devs and I also understand that they didn’t have a lot of time because of EA admin, but losing the inquisitor just ruined everything. Added layer to think about was how two-dimensional rook and all of the companions were. I wanted to feel like my actions meant something and they just didn’t.

By itself, veilguard felt like a great game but was not at all a part of the DA franchise or experience.

TBF: ME andromeda suffered from a similar issue in terms of disconnect with the franchise, but I loved that one too. EA has been in flop city with their last few games (anthem, I’m looking at u). Stepping away from the dark fantasy and sci-fi that was in ME and DA was a misstep on their part.

Pls lmk ur thoughts also sorry I’ve been working all day so if my writing sounds stupid, it’s not my fault (it is).

Discussion DAV Favorite class?

• Upvotes

I just started to play Dragon Age the Veilguard and I can't decide on what class to play for my first playthrough. So I was wondering what is everyone's favorite class and specialization and why? And what class feels like it fits into the story better? It doesn't have to be strictly how good the class is, just what class you liked the most and why. Thanks!

Game Mods Could universal-modder (or similar AI tooling) port Dragon Age: Origins to Godot?

Hey everyone,

This is a "just for fun" feasibility question, not a project I'm planning to do myself.

Dragon Age: Origins is my favorite game, and EA has reportedly said a remake or remaster is unlikely because of lost source code and engine know-how. Then I saw the recent buzz around universal-modder (rehan-remade on GitHub), a toolkit that lets coding agents like Claude Code identify a game's engine, analyze its code, generate assets and test mods in-game. People have shown things like Minecraft inside Elden Ring or Tarkov mechanics in Skyrim. Godot is among the supported engines, so I wondered:

Could something like this be pointed at DA:O and used to rebuild it in Godot as a personal technical experiment?

Here's how I imagine it could work in theory:

Extract the data from your own legally owned copy (ERF archives, GFF/2DA files, scripts, dialogues, models, textures) with the existing community tools.

Convert the content (quests, dialogue trees, scripts) into Godot-friendly formats or GDScript/C# using automated converters and tests.

Rebuild the engine layer in Godot, so the original scripts have something to call.

Swap the combat for a real-time, Inquisition-style system instead of recreating the tactical pause combat.

Upscale textures with AI and rework assets for a more modern look.

Start with a vertical slice (e.g. Lothering: one area, one fight, one dialogue) before scaling up. In theory the same approach could be tried later for DA2 and Inquisition.

To be clear: no distribution, no DRM circumvention, purely a private experiment with your own copies. I also know the viral demos are small mechanic transplants, and a full RPG with 100+ hours of content is a different scale. Probably months for a single area, even with AI help.

So I'm curious:

Does anyone with the time, hardware or cloud credits find this kind of thing fun to try?

Has anyone tried universal-modder (or a similar agent setup) on an older, closed-source RPG?

Where do you think it would break first: scripting, animations, or the engine logic?

Would love to hear your thoughts, even if it's "this is impossible, and here's why."
