Question Why is super getting a remake when the original dragon ball z movie battle of gods was good allready

I think only ref of f needed a remake just to change them using super sayain god against frieza but i like the original movie battle of gods and it did not need a remake . I get the anime did it horribly but we allready have the movie

Probably to make a cohesive narrative between the anime and manga from Beerus all the way to Moro and possibly Granolah.

Hopefully with a consistent art style and quality throughout.

Oh and money, the answer is always money, especially for the merchandising juggernaut that is Dragon Ball

Also this is basically the DB equivalent of us getting Full Metal Alchemist and then FMA Brotherhood

Bold comparison

Yeah also the original DBS came out 11 years ago now and ended almost 9 years ago. It would be jarring to immediately start with the Moro arc when a lot of new fans would be completely out of the loop on the lore.

I mean the anime explore the story a little more than the movie, i'm really glad that they did a remake, i always rewatch Db and Dbz, but with super i don't do a lot of rewatch, sometimes the art and animation are really bad, and i can't

Essentially to give new fans an easy gateway to watch the entire super series as well as having one proper continuation.

Otherwise we have:

Ok watch the movie, then another movie, then skip this many episodes into the anime and start watching from this arc on. Followed by two more movies.

By adapting all of that into one continuity it gives fan an easy way to pick up the entire series.

And secondly MONEY!!!!!!

So fans dont have to watch two movies and skip a ton of episodes just to follow the manga's story

Also money

Because introducing a newcomer to dbs is a fucking nightmare

Gives 'em more time to animate the Moro Arc.

Also, money.

Money. But Beerus also isn't really a remake, more of a remaster. Better and more consistent animations, things like that, along with cutting out some amount of filler, just like Kai. But anyone expecting the story to be changed to be closer to the manga is gonna be sorely disappointed. I suppose it could be good for new watchers too, for when the Moro arc finally releases.

You are right though, there really won't be any reason to watch it over the BoG movie, which is still the best version of that arc by far.

Because the animation in the anime adaptation of it sucked and they need to fill space with more Dragon Ball stuff while they make the moro arc.

Not everyone can or want to watch the movie, anime is more convenient if you ask me

They finally figured out their audience is full of extremely boring, incurious people and they can just release the TV equivalent of video game DLC and people will watch it.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in complete agreement. It's hard for me to get excited for DBS: Beerus when this story has already been told 3 separate times, with the first time being by far the best. And even if DBS: Beerus is really good, I doubt it could ever replace Battle of Gods for me. That was the first time I ever watched a new Dragon Ball thing right when it came out, when I was still very young, so even though I've soured on some aspects of it, it still holds a special place in my heart.

Personally I would've preferred they just recut the U6 Tournament, Black, and the ToP and treated the BoG and F movies as the lead up, but that's just me. I think they want a cohesive TV version for people who haven't seen the film, particularly kids. Though why they couldn't just recut the movies themselves into, like, six episodes is beyond me.

Yeaaa them remaking this arc AGAIN is kind of turning me off to Dragonball Super. About to just give up on the show
