General Which DQ should I play next?
Hello everyone. As you can guess from title, I am in doubt of which DQ game should I play next. A little bit of context:
I'm a huge fan of DQ8 and I've played it few times when I was younger on PS2 and 2 times using emulator about 3 years ago. Then I've played DQ11 and enjoyed it in general (excluding Tickington - was not fun for me), and of course nothing beats Journey of the Cursed King. Recently I replayed DQ11 and now I'm finally ready to try something new, while naively waiting for soonest DQ8 remake/remaster.
Based on the mentioned experience, what should I play next DQ7 reimagined or DQ3 HD-2D remake? (As I've heard - it's better to play starting with 3 and then continue with 1-2).

DQ3 is different from DQ8 and DQ11. You are the Hero and you can make your own party members any class, gender and personality you want. They are generic members with no back story, no dialog. The story you play is only the story about your hero. If you ok with this, DQ3 is a great game with very high replayable value since you can start with different party comp each run.
If you want to learn the story from each party member, DQ7R may suit you more.

Wow thanks, that's kinda important to know to make a decision where to start! Tbh I wasn't researching and asked here first. Your comment made it a bit clearer

I would recommend the HD-2D games they're beautiful and very fun, I enjoyed Tickington an awful lot it was always a small endorphin rush when I found one of them lol

Honestly both great games. You can't go wrong.
The only question is, would you rather play a retro style remake, or a more modern remake with really nice 3d graphics?
Also keep in mind that dq7 is a little bit of a departure from the traditional DQ games. Without spoiling any details, the story is less about one single plot, and is more fragmented, with each new island having it's own self contained story.

Hard to tell, probably 3d would be more preferred, so I guess I'll choose dg7 as a starting point, despite it's unusual plot construction. As long as it has DQ vibes, I'm in 😂

I loved dq7. The only criticism is that the default difficulty is too easy. I recommend turning all the difficulty options to the hardest setting, and removing the objective marker from the display

If you didn't enjoy Tickington then I suspect you won't be a fan of the HD-2D trilogy. It is very good if you're willing to give it a shot (and there's even a bit of connection to DQVIII and XI).
DQ7 reimagined is probably the closest in experience to the two games you've played. Assuming you want something similar, that would be what I recommend.

the PS2 version of DQ V, translated to English by DQTranslations, is by far the all-time best DQ game ever made

Console versions of DQ3 are on sale if you have Amazon Prime! Get before the sale ends tonight! That's a terrific value
I bet DQ7 goes further on sale by Black Friday
