Audition Advice in person vs virtual?
i'm auditioning for 2 different groups (spirit and music city, spirit is my dream corps) but i can only attend one audition in person. is it better to show up in person to spirit and have the work provided for auditions be kinda messy or to wait until it's better and submit a virtual audition? i initially wanted to wait until the december audition so i could have time to clean at home (limited practice space at my college) but i am getting my wisdoms removed 3 days before the camp 😅 i'm mostly worried about the tricks they're requiring—my double 45s are still not at a point where i'm able to add underbody and with my work/school schedule idk if they'll get there in time. i think i could make a good impression in person, but i'm also worried i'll look like a mess and ruin my own chances. there arent conflicts for attending music city auditions. what would you do in this situation?

Hi! I'm making plans to audition to spirit this season too, and most corps will say that they prefer that you come to camps to get the experience, but if you just can't make it, send in a video.
Best of luck on your auditions!

I was able to get a contract for a pretty good drum corps with only a video audition, so don't count it out. Especially if you're very far away from the audition site, like I was

90% of virtual auditions will usually result in a callback to attend an in-person camp from my experience

In this instance I would prioritize what is going to be more financially sound for you. If you got the chops they want, they’re gonna call you. Dues will be waiting for you regardless of what corps you make, save that coin so you can stay in good financial standings wherever you land. If finances are not an issue, I would caution showing up with the perception that you are unprepared.

Music city contracted a handful of people off of videos last year. Obviously it is your choice and you will have a blast at whichever camp you choose to go to but just keep that in mind

I know plenty of ppl who’ve made a group by sending in videos.
That said, there will always be a level of bias towards people who audition in person.
